2026 Tata Sierra Variant-Wise Engine And Transmission Options Revealed

In this article, we take a look at the specifications of the new Sierra’s engine options and breakdown the variant-wise engine and transmission options available for Tata’s latest SUV.

2026 Tata Sierra Engine Specifications

Tata are offering the new Sierra with three 1.5L engine options – a normal petrol, a turbo petrol and a diesel. Check out the power, torque and transmission options of each engine option in the table below:

• At launch, the Tata Sierra is offered exclusively with a front-wheel-drive setup. Tata have, however, confirmed that a 4-wheel-drive variant is under development. Whether it is with an internal combustion engine (ICE) or dual electric motors remains to be seen. We are expecting to see it in the Sierra EV as a dual-motor version.
• The brand-new 1.5L turbo petrol engine is paired solely with an Aisin-sourced 6-speed torque converter (TC) automatic transmission.
• The new 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine, on the other hand, will offer 2 gearbox choices — a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT).
• The 1.5L diesel unit is the same engine used in the Tata Curvv, and buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
• Notably, the diesel-automatic version of the Sierra delivers an additional 20Nm of torque compared to both the Curvv diesel-automatic and the Sierra diesel-manual.

2026 Tata Sierra Variant-Wise Engine Options

Here are the variant-wise engine options for the new Sierra 2026:

• The Sierra normal petrol is available in all variants except the top Accomplished Plus. Also, only the mid variants of the Sierra normal petrol are available with an automatic transmission.
• The Sierra turbo petrol is only available with an automatic transmission.
• The Sierra diesel-manual is available in all 7 variants, while the Sierra diesel-automatic is not available in the base Pure and mid Adventure variant.
