In this April 2022 cars sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all A-segment hatchbacks in India. We’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales, where applicable.
A-Segment Hatchback April 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change
- Maruti Suzuki own the A-segment hatchback space with all of their 3 cars in the top 3 spots
- The Alto still maintains its lead in the A-segment hatchback space with 5-figure sales in April 2022
- The Celerio saw the biggest YoY change in April 2022 with a gain of 1825%
- This skewed YoY gain is because the Celerio about to get a generation change last year and had less demand as customers were waiting for the update
- In MoM, we won’t see such skewed data as the Celerio has now settled into its rhythm
- The Renault Kwid sits on the fourth spot followed by the Hyundai Santro
- If we ignore the Celerio’s figure, then all cars in the A segment witnessed a drop

- The Alto is the biggest gainer with 37% MoM growth in April 2022
- The Santro witnessed the biggest drop of 28% MoM decline in sales
- The Redi-Go’s sales numbers are not available as Nissan are rumoured to have discontinued the Datsun brand in India
