Hatchbacks Segment April 2023 Car Sales - YoY Change
- In terms of sales, the B1-segment hatchback was the best-selling segment in the Indian market. 59,040 out of 1,10,274 hatchbacks were B1-segment cars, which makes up to about 53% of the total sales of the hatchbacks in the month of April.
- The Swift was the best performing hatchback in April 2023 YoY comparison, with a 111% rise in dispatches as compared to April 2022.
- The Tiago was the second best performing car in the category, with a 67% YoY growth in April 2023
- The S-Presso from Maruti was the biggest loser, with around 62% decline in sales. The Kwid was the second biggest loser with a 48% decline in dispatches in the April YoY comparison
- The Celerio also reported a YoY decline of 31% in April
- The cars that were discontinued are:
- Honda Jazz (Discontinued in 2023)
- Hyundai Santro (Discontinued in 2022)
- Mahindra KUV100 (Discontinued in 2023)
- Volkswagen Polo (Discontinued in 2022)
Hatchback Segment April 2023 Car Sales - MoM Change
- The WagonR claimed the top spot, with almost 21,500 units sold in the month of April.
- Most cars in the category reported an MoM growth in April. The exceptions were:
- Grand i10 Nios with 26.49% drop
- Kwid with 15.67% drop
- I20 with 1.88% drop
- The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios emerged as the top MoM loser in the month of April.
- Hyundai sold only 21 units of the Ioniq 5 electric vehicle in March, whereas 189 units were sold in April.
