In this August 2023 Maruti Suzuki Cars sales analysis article, we’ll look at the car sales of Arena and Nexa for the previous month. We’ll also compare the YoY and MoM change to find out which Maruti cars’ sales improved and which ones declined.
August 2023 - Maruti Suzuki Arena & Nexa Car Sales Figures - YoY Change
- Most of the Maruti cars saw a drop in sales figures in our YoY Maruti Suzuki car sales comparison.
- Maruti produced 1,56,114 cars in August 2023 compared to 1,34,166 units in August 2022, which is an overall YoY growth of over 4.23% in 2023 compared to 2022.
- This growth in overall sales despite seeing a loss in most cars in the market is explained by the fact that Grand Vitara, Jimny, Invicto, and Fronx were not on sale in the market last year. Their combined sales accounted for 27,675 units.
- The XL6 was the top YoY gainer amongst the high-volume cars from Maruti, with over 72% YoY growth in the month of August.
- Although Maruti is generally associated with high-volume cars, being one of the most popular car brands in India, technically speaking, the S-Presso, Invicto, and Ciaz can be considered as low-volume cars by the carmaker.
- Amongst the low-volume cars from Maruti, S-Presso reported a 66% YoY decline and Ignis reported a 59% YoY drop in the August 2023 comparison analysis.
- Maruti launched 4 cars in the past year - the Grand Vitara, Jimny, Invicto and Fronx.

August 2023 - Maruti Suzuki Arena & Nexa Car Sales Figures - MoM Change
- Over half of the Maruti cars in the comparison reported a decline in MoM comparison analysis for the month of August.
- Sales of the top-selling car by Maruti, the Swift, increased by 4.23% in August compared to July.
- Maruti Suzuki sold nearly 4,038 units of the Celerio in August compared to just 2,893 units in July, which makes for an MoM rise of about 40%. This makes it the biggest gainer in the August 2023 MoM comparison for Maruti Suzuki India Limited.
- The Alto pair was next on the MoM gainers’ ranking, with a 35% growth.
- Among the MoM losers, the Ciaz topped the list with around a 37% decline in dispatch numbers in the August MoM comparison.
- The Ciaz was followed by the Ignis with about a 26% decline in sales numbers.
