Maruti Suzuki has been preparing to launch the Ciaz facelift this year and thee latest report says that the automaker has confirmed the date of launch of the car in the country. The 2018 Ciaz facelift will be launched on End Of August, 2018 in the Indian market. However, this is only a facelift by the automaker and not a whole new model change. Hence, we cannot expect any change in the platform but only exterior, interior and powertrain changes in the upcoming sedan.
The 2018 Ciaz facelift has been spied testing a number of times in the country revealing some or the other details time to time. Talking about the changes, the facelifted Maruti Ciaz will get a new face and is expected to get some more chrome with the updated front grille, new housing for the fog lamp cluster and an updated headlamp cluster with DRLs along with some changes at the rear as well.
At the inside, the upcoming Ciaz facelift is likely to offer an all-black color scheme with the top-variants getting rear-arm rest holders. In terms of features, we can expect the smart play infotainment system to be continued on the new Ciaz with the support of Apple Car Play and Android Auto as well as in-built navigation, steering mounted controls and a digital speedometer.
One of the major changes to be seen on the upcoming sedan will be the addition of a new engine. The Ciaz facelift will come powered by the new 1.5L petrol engine which replaces the current 1.4L petrol engine (K15B). Though, the performance detail is not known but it is likely to produce around 100 hp and 144 Nm of peak torque. The motor is expected to come mated to a 6-Speed manual transmission along with the option of 6-Speed automatic gearbox. However, the diesel variants will continue to get the 1.3L engine with 88 hp of power and 200 Nm of peak torque mated to a 5-Speed manual gearbox. Also, the diesel variants will get Maruti's mild hybrid SHVS technology as well.
Maruti Suzuki is completely focused on selling its cars through its NEXA channel of dealerships. Hence, the Ciaz will also be sold through the NEXA dealerships across the country with its flagship Blue color on offer. The outgoing model of Ciaz prices start from Rs 7.83 lakh and go up to Rs 11.51 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), since it’s going to launch the facelift version the prices are also expected to go little up compared to the existing model. However, some of NEXA dealerships in the country cash discount of Rs 40,000, exchange bonus of around Rs 50,000 and corporate discount of Rs 10,000, taking the overall discount to Rs 1 lakh. The discount is being offered in order to clear the stock of existing Ciaz. When launched, the facelifted Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will take against the likes of the Toyota Yaris, Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid.
