Updating its XC60 SUV range in the Indian market, Volvo India has added a new entry-level variant named the XC60 D4 Momentum priced at Rs 52.90 lakh (ex- showroom, India). Compared to the top-spec XC60 D5 Inscription variant which is priced at Rs 59.90 lakh (ex- showroom, India), the new XC60 D4 Momentum is cheaper by Rs 7 lakh. It’s the same thing as the S90 range in the country, where the entry-level Momentum trim has been launched at Rs 51.90 lakh (ex- showroom, India) and the top-spec D4 Inscription comes priced at Rs 58.54 lakh (ex-showroom, India) that is around Rs 7 lakh more than the Momentum.
Mechanically, the newly added Volvo XC60 Momentum comes powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine capable of 190 bhp of maximum power and 400 Nm of peak torque. However, the top-spec XC60 D5 Inscription model gets a 235 bhp and 480 Nm torque producing diesel motor. Though the 8-speed automatic gearbox with an all-wheel-drive system has remained the same, the XC60 D4 Momentum misses out on the air suspension system provided in the top-spec D5 Inscription model.
The exterior of the entry-level model comes with a piano black finish for the front grille compared to the Inscription variant with chrome finish. The alloy wheels are 18-inch 5 spoke with a simple design theme as the S90 Momentum variant. However, the Momentum variant comes with same LED headlamps and tail lamps on the exterior as the top model.
The features offered on the base Momentum model includes adaptive cruise control with Pilot Assist, a digital instrument cluster and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system while losing out on some luxury features such as ventilated seats with massage function, 360-degree parking camera, heads-up display system, Bowers and Wilkins audio system and a blind spot monitor system.
Volvo India is expected to begin assembly of XC60 soon in the country in order to make the car more popular in the market with localization. Also, earlier this year Volvo had added the XC90 T8 Inscription variant to the large SUV’s line-up. The XC60 D4 Momentum takes against the likes of the Mercedes GLC, the BMW X3 and the Land Rover Discovery Sport in the segment. Stay tuned to V3cars.com for further updates from Volvo India.
