American auto major, Ford had recently unveiled the all-new Ford Freestyle in India. The Freestyle has been caught testing on the Indian roads hinting at its imminent market launch. Although Ford India calls its new Freestyle a CUV (compact utility vehicle), it is essentially the beefed up version of the Figo hatchback and practically belongs to the hatch-turned-crossover segment in India, which is gradually growing. The Ford Freestyle will have its official India launch in the current month of April.
The all-new Ford Freestyle will be placed in the gap between the Ford Figo hatch and the Ford EcoSport subcompact SUV models in Ford’s Indian product portfolio. Recently, according to a set of spy images, it has come to light that the Freestyle has already started reaching the authorized dealership outlets, which clearly indicates the car’s imminent market launch in India. Very recently, the Ford Freestyle got caught by the spying shutterbugs once again and the new spy shots offer us a glimpse of a new attractive champagne gold exterior colour option for the new upcoming Freestyle crossover. Previous spy pictures have shown a copper brown exterior paint job for this new Ford vehicle.
Till now, there haven’t been any official announcements from the house of Ford India regarding the official launch date of the new Ford Freestyle in the domestic car market. Ford is also yet to commence the pre-launch bookings for the car. It has now come to light that Ford India has confirmed that the company is going to start registering the bookings for the Freestyle from 7th of April, 2018. Thus, we can expect the Ford Freestyle to hit the car market of India towards the end of this month. Meanwhile, the company has already added the Freestyle to it official Indian website along with some features and engine details of the car.
When exterior styling is concerned, the new upcoming Ford Freestyle CUV will be coming with a rugged visual appeal with a whole bunch of sporty black styling elements such as on the grille, bumper inserts, wing mirrors, underbody cladding and more. Ford has also endowed the new car with large stylish sweptback headlights, nice character lines on the sides and creases on the bonnet, and typical crossover styling elements such as silver skid plate, side-body cladding and roof rails. The car also flaunts a set of stylish twin-five spoke alloy wheels and also cool looking LED tail lights.
On the inside, the Ford Freestyle will also boast of some premium features including new patent floating style touchscreen integrated infotainment system along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support and Ford’s SYNC3 interface.
Under the hood, the all-new Ford Freestyle CUV will pack in the new 1.2L petrol mill from Ford’s Dragon series petrol engines, which offers 94 bhp of power. The diesel version of the crossover will get equipped with the familiar 1.5L oil burner that delivers 99 bhp of power. Both the engines are 3-cylinder units and will get paired with a standard 5 speed manual transmission.
