Honda Cars India Ltd. the fully owned Indian subsidiary of the Japanese auto major Honda Motors, has announced on 30th of October that the Honda City sedan has achieved the sales mark of 7 lakh units. The Honda City is the company’s bestselling premium sedan and achieved this huge sales milestone since it first launched in India back in 1998.
The Honda City sedan enjoys an iconic status in India and has been a highly revered model ever since its first launch in the country. As per Honda Cars India, the Honda City enjoys a massive brand loyalty and occupies a special place in the hearts of the Indian buyers. The Indian car market is the largest and the most important market for the Honda City, and currently accounts for more than 25 percent of the sedan’s total sales across the world.
While commenting on the achievement of this great feat, the President and Chief Executive Officer at Honda Cars India, Yoichiro Ueno said that the Honda City is the company’s bestselling model in the car market of India and is also the only premium sedan to have achieved this cumulative sales milestone of seven lakhs units in India. The City brand has a strong legacy of four generations, and has evolved going with the changing requirements, preferences and aspiration of the Honda customers in India. He added by saying that the company thanks all its City customers for their support to the brand.
Ueno further added by saying that India has always been a strong market for City and at present accounts for 25 percent of sedan’s worldwide sales. The City is a complete package of sporty styling along with advanced safety, excellent driving performance, good fuel economy, great comfort and a long equipment list. The company hopes that the Honda City will be able to hold on to its much loved brand status in the Indian market in future.
The highly popular Honda City mid-sized premium sedan is currently in its 4th generation model. Honda Cars India had recently launched the current generation City’s refreshed 2017 avatar in the domestic market of the country. The current City is adored for its sharp and bold styling and great features. The Honda City sedan is offered for sale in the Indian market in both petrol and diesel versions. While both the fuel options come with manual transmission as standard, the petrol engine comes with an advanced CVT gearbox option as well.
The City sedan is loaded with many premium features. The features list include keyless entry, leather seat upholstery, advanced 17.7 cm touchscreen Digipad infotainment system, automatic air-conditioner, cruise control, steering wheel mounted audio and Bluetooth handsfree, reverse camera and parking sensors, 16 inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and much more.
