    Hyundai i20 Sells Over1.3 Million Units Globally

    Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has announced that the ‘i20’ has surpassed the 1.3 Million Sales mark worldwide since its first launch in India a decade back. Out of the 1.3 million units, the manufacturer has sold 8.5 lakh units only in the Indian market. Hyundai also claims this achievement to be the fastest for any automobile in the respective segment.                                              

    Commenting on the achievement, Vikas Jain, Asst. Vice President- National Sales, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said, “We are extremely delighted with this unprecedented milestone that i20 models have achieved of 1.3 Million global sales and have met the aspirations of Indian and Global customers. The i20 established the Premium Compact Segment and has been a stellar brand that personifies Hyundai’s Modern Premium positioning. It has set new benchmarks in the Premium Compact segment and continues to dominate with its world-class appeal, performance and looks.”

    Hyundai sells the i20 as the Elite and Active i20 in the Indian market. Mechanically, the Elite i20 comes with petrol and diesel engine options with the 1.2 L Kappa series petrol engine making 81 bhp of power and 117 Nm of peak torque and has an option of either a 5- speed manual or a CVT transmission option. The diesel version comes powered with the 1.4 L U2 CRDi engine with 89 bhp of power and 224 Nm of torque. The diesel engine comes mated to a 6- speed manual transmission option only.
