JLR To Launch First Electric SUV Under The Land Rover Brand In 2025 | V3Cars

Jaguar Land Rover recently announced that they will bring their first electric SUV under the Land Rover brand sometime in 2025. The British carmaker will rework their plant in Halewood, UK to make it an all-electric production facility.

Land Rover Electric SUV

They aim to make Land Rover an electric-first luxury automaker by 2030. This means, they should have more vehicles with a charging plug in their lineup by the end of this decade. The company will continue to invest in next-generation electric models, with the first modern luxury all-electric Range Rover coming out of the Halewood plant. In addition, Land Rover will retain their flexible modular longitudinal architecture (MLA), which offers internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid, and battery-electric vehicle (BEV) options, allowing the company to adapt their vehicle lineup to meet different market needs around the world.

As part of its Reimagine strategy, Jaguar Land Rover will move to a House of Brands approach, amplifying the unique character of each of their sub-brands, such as, Range Rover, Defender, Discovery and Jaguar. This approach should help them offer the most discerning lineup of vehicles with varying powertrain options and a unique brand identity for each sub-brand.

In addition to its investment in electric vehicles, Land Rover also plan to invest heavily in their UK industrial footprint. Their engine manufacturing plant in Wolverhampton will transition from producing internal combustion engines to producing electric drive units and battery packs for the company's next-generation vehicles. The centre will get a new name too — Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre — to reflect this transition. Meanwhile, the historic Castle Bromwich site will expand its stamping facilities to provide bodywork for next-generation electric vehicles.
