Under the hood, the existing Jeep Compass in India gets two engine options- a 1.4-liter Multi- air petrol engine that makes 163 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. It comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox and gets an option for a 7-speed automatic transmission as an option. Other than this, there is a 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine that produces 173 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. However, the diesel motor is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox only and there is no option for an automatic transmission. The same diesel engine option is likely to be featured in the upcoming MG Hector SUV as well. However, the upcoming Jeep Compass Trailhawk is expected to offer a 2.0-liter diesel engine that will comply with BSVI (BS6) norms and will come mated to a 9- speed automatic transmission.

In order to stay true to its off-roading features, 2019 Jeep Compass Trailhawk will get the Selec-Terrain Traction Management System combined with the Jeep Active Drive Low 4x4 System. This will confirm impressive on-road traction and better off-road performance. It will feature Ruby Red tow hooks, with two hooks up front and one at the rear. The other highlighting features include a rear-locking differential, hill-descent control and an additional Rock mode for the Selec-Terrain system (which brings the total to five modes, including Snow, Sport, Sand/Mud, and Auto). It will also come with cruise control, a new instrument cluster with colored multi-info display, a larger touchscreen infotainment system with the navigation system and a panoramic sunroof as standard.

Other than these, the upcoming Jeep Compass Trailhawk’s ground clearance of 225 mm is 20 mm more than the standard model. It gets redesigned front and rear bumpers with improved approach and departure angles, a higher-set air intake to improve water-wading abilities to 480 mm with a 75mm increase over the standard Compass. Additionally, the Compass Trailhawk also gets underside skid plates and all-weather floor mats. Jeep has also added tow hooks painted in red, a black anti-glare decal on the bonnet and the justified ‘Trail-Rated’ badge.

At the inside, the 2019 Compass Trailhawk is expected to feature the Uconnect 4 infotainment system with an 8.4- inch touchscreen compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well. The off-roader is also expected to come with leather-trimmed seats accented by signature ruby red stitching throughout.

Currently, Jeep Compass is priced in India between Rs 15.60 lakh-Rs 23.11 lakh (ex-showroom). Hence, the upcoming Trailhawk is expected to be priced between Rs 26.5 lakh and Rs 30.5 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, the SUV will take against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and upcoming Hyundai Venue in the segment.
