New entrant Kia made the world premiere of its SP Concept SUV at the Auto Expo 2018, which will launch in India in its production guise in 2019 when Kia will begin its Indian operations. The South Korean car maker is currently preparing to start its operations in India by the second half of 2019. Apart from the unveiling of the Kia SP SUV which took the centre stage at Kia stall during the recently held Auto Expo 2018, the company also showcased its long range of global products. Now, the important thing is that the SP Concept SUV has been designed and being developed specifically for the Indian car market, and it has come to light that Kia is expediting the process of launching the SUV in India.
As per the recent reports, Kia Motors is fast tracking the entire process of unveiling the production ready SP Concept based compact SUV in the car market of India. If this is true, then we might have the Kia SUV sooner than we originally thought, that is second half of 2019. According to the reports, Kia has taken the decision of speeding up the SP SUV’s Indian launch after getting massive response from the potential customers at the Auto Expo 2018.
The Kia SP Concept is a bold and contemporary compact SUV concept model which is marked with a highly stylized design language along with Kia's distinctive styling philosophy that should attract the modern young Indian buyers in plenty. The SUV offers a fine design mix of wide bold and sporty SUV stance, along with elegant styling elements, which will make it a stunning contender in the fiercely competitive Indian compact SUV segment.
While speaking on this development, the sales & marketing head of Kia Motors India, Manohar Bhat said that in the four months that the company has begin work, it is already two months ahead of the schedule. Hence, with the products that the company has and by the response it has received at the Auto Expo 2018, it seems that the earlier the company hits the market the better it will be.
After the huge response from the Indian buyers, Kia has already started studying as to which products should be launched in the Indian market in the coming 3-4 years. After launching the Kia SP Concept based compact SUV, Kia will also bring in a sub-4 metre compact SUV by 2020, followed by a premium hatchback that will likely launch in the same year. Kia will have three models in the mainstream Indian market to get substantial sales volumes. Being the sister concern of Hyundai, which is India’s second largest carmaker, Kia is aiming big and looking to grab a position in the top five automakers list in India within just three years of its India operations commencement.
Once launched in India, the Kia SP Concept SUV will fight with the likes of the Maruti S-Cross and its own cousin, the Hyundai Creta.
