Lexus RX, NX And LM Recalled Over Rear Camera Software Issue | V3Cars
Lexus India have announced a voluntary recall for select units of the RX, NX, and LM. The recall was issued to address a software-related issue in the parking assist ECU, which forms part of these models’ Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) system.
The move comes shortly after Toyota issued a similar recall for the Camry, Vellfire, and Land Cruiser models that share several components and software systems with their Lexus counterparts.
Details Of The Lexus Recall
According to information released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the recall is related to the rear camera image display. Lexus explains that the issue arises from a software error in the PVM system, which may lead to one of two potential faults:
- The rear view image may freeze temporarily while reversing, if reverse gear is selected shortly after the ignition is turned on.
- The rear camera feed may fail to display the next time the car is started, if the ignition is cycled on or off within a specified time window.
While this issue does not pose a direct mechanical failure, it could temporarily reduce rear visibility while reversing, affecting overall parking safety.
Affected Models And Production Period
Lexus have not yet revealed the exact number of affected vehicles. However, the recall covers:
- Lexus RX SUV manufactured between August 2023 and July 2025
- Lexus NX SUV manufactured between September 2023 and May 2025
- Lexus LM MPV manufactured between June 2024 and August 2025
These vehicles share the same parking assist ECU architecture as the Toyota models that were recalled recently.
Lexus have confirmed that the software update will be carried out free of cost at authorised dealerships across India. Owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted directly by Lexus dealers to schedule an appointment.
Alternatively, customers can reach out to Lexus India’s customer care helpline or visit their nearest Lexus service centre to confirm whether their vehicle is covered under this recall.
