Mahindra e2oPlus Now Available On Rent In Delhi
Mahindra and Zoomcar came together in November 2017 to start offering the e2oPlus self-driving EV in the three cities of India, namely Jaipur, Hyderabad and Mysuru and after four months, the two companies have decided to make the electric car available for rent in Delhi as well. Mahindra Electric and Zoomcar announced on Tuesday about their unique service of presenting electric vehicles (EVs) for shared mobility solution to Delhi, the capital of the country. The companies are set to come up with 100 'e2oPlus' all-electric city car on rent in collaboration for the residents and visitors through the Zoomcar platform in Delhi under the same.
It was announced by the NITI Ayog In November 2017 under the government’s 2030 vision that it will be setting up 135 charging stations on the Gurugram-Indira Gandhi International Airport South Delhi-Noida corridor in order to overcome (to an extent) the range anxiety issues to make it go hand in hand with electric vehicles in India. The addition of 100 e20Plus cars in the operation will be able to take the services and benefits of this newly developed infrastructure. In March this year, it was just nine months after Ola started deploying electric cabs in Nagpur, the drivers showed their discomfort about the electric car’s limited range and long charging durations and stated their plans of shifting back to the old school diesel-powered cars.
This recent initiative by Mahindra and Zoomcar is targeted at promoting connected, shared and electric mobility as a model, in tandem with the recommendations in the NITI Aayog report. Mahesh Babu, CEO, Mahindra Electric, said speaking on the occasion that both the companies are confident that this move will help more people adopt electric vehicles as a technology and will also help in contributing in India’s journey towards a greener and eco-friendly future for the country.
In April 2017, Mahindra put in place its electric hatchback, the e2oPlus; in Zoomcar’s ZAP services apart from placing its EVs in the Zoomcar fleet. With the e2oPlus being listed on ZAP, a fractional car ownership programme by Zoomcar, the buyers can have it on lease at Rs 15,000 per month for an ownership experience of the car.
This latest initiative is likely to be even more helpful for the prospective e2oPlus buyers as they’ll be able to experience the car and the benefits and shortcomings of an electric vehicle for a desired period of time before committing to it. And unlike the ZAP, on which there’s a monthly commitment from the buyers, the buyers can have the e2oPlus with them for some days or weeks with Zoomcar before making up a decision related to the purchase. The electric vehicles under this initiative are going to be financed by LeasePlan. Zoomcar also has a larger financing arrangement with Mahindra Finance, which will look that Zoomcar obtain customized electric vehicle financing in addition to the same.;
As said in a statement by Mahindra Electric, Delhi is the capital of the country and an important business and urban hub, is quite apt for being a good choice for this initiative. It was also stated that the Delhi government has also been quite supportive of electric vehicles in order to improve the problem of the pollution situation in the city.
The Co-Founder and CEO of Zoomcar, Greg Moran stated that as the national capital, Delhi has always been consistent in showing visionary leadership on various sustainable initiatives for the environment such as the Metro, Odd-Even, and CNG infrastructure. He also added that the rollout of 100 electric vehicles mated with best-in-class fast charging infrastructure is an extension of the vision of the Delhi for a cleaner, greener India.;
