Mahindra revealed the launch timeline and powertrain specifications of their upcoming range of electric SUVs at the recently-held event in Cape Town, South Africa. Read on to know more about the upcoming XUV.e and BE range of SUVs.

Mahindra will debut the new INGLO platform with the XUV.e range of SUVs. The first model to spawn out of this platform will be the XUV.e8, which is an electric derivative of the XUV700. The XUV.e8 is set to make its debut in December 2024 It was spotted on test multiple times in the past and it is likely to retain the same silhouette and 7-seater configuration as the XUV700. The XUV.e9, which will be an electric coupe SUV, will go on sale in April 2025.

The XUV.e8 and XUV.e9 will come with a rear-mounted electric motor that puts out 231PS of power and 380Nm of torque. Unlike the BE range of SUVs, the XUV.e8 and XUV.e9 will come with a rear-wheel drivetrain only. Furthermore, while the future BE range will source their batteries from Volkswagen, the XUV.e range will come with Valeo motors.

After the launch of the XUV.e range, Mahindra will introduce their BE range of SUVs. As per the current plan, the BE range will include 2 SUVs — the BE.05 and BE.07. The BE.05 will launch in October 2025 while the BE.07 will go on sale in April 2026. The BE.05 will boast a coupe SUV bodystyle while the BE.07 will come with a conventional SUV bodystyle and 3-rows of seats.

Speaking of the specifications, both the BE.05 and BE.07 will come with rear-wheel and 4-wheel drive configurations. The rear-wheel drive variants will make use of a rear-mounted electric motor. It will produce 286PS of power and 535Nm of torque. The 4-wheel drive variants will get a front-mounted electric motor as well, which will additionally offer 109PS and 135Nm. Both the front and rear electric motors will be sourced from Volkswagen. Furthermore, the battery capacity of Mahindra upcoming electric SUVs will range from 60kWh to 80kWh and will be sourced from BYD.
