With the launch of the Marazzo BS6 in August 2020, Mahindra suggested that petrol and automatic transmission versions of MPV are also under development. Now, a test mule was spotted sporting an ‘AutoShift’ badging on the tailgate.
Since the Mahindra XUV300 AMT also sports an ‘AutoShift’ badging, it leads us to believe that even the Marazzo automatic will be offered with an AMT gearbox. That said, Mahindra is yet to confirm which type of automatic transmission will be offered on the Marazzo automatic.
Other than the transmission, the Marazzo automatic is expected to share all its element with its manual counterpart. Depending on the variant, it will get features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors, projector headlamps, auto AC with separate rear AC unit, electrically adjustable ORVMs, tilt-adjustable steering, height-adjustable driver’s seat, parking camera, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a parking camera.
Under the hood, it will be powered by a 1.5-litre engine making 123PS of maximum power and 300Nm of peak torque. Mahindra is also planning to introduce a petrol engine on the Marazzo. It has already been spotted testing. It is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine making 163PS and 280Nm paired with both manual and automatic transmission options.
The introduction of an automatic transmission and a petrol engine will strengthen Marazzo’s case against the Maruti XL6 and Ertiga. Both these MPVs are quite popular amongst the car buyers in India.
Mahindra Marazzo is currently available in three variants: M2, M4+ and M6+. It is priced from Rs 11.25 lakh and Rs 13.59 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
