New Maruti Suzuki YMC Electric SUV Spotted | V3Cars

A new heavily-camouflaged Maruti Suzuki electric SUV was spotted testing recently, and the latest spy shots suggest Maruti Suzuki are preparing a larger electric SUV positioned above the 2026 eVitara.

New Maruti Electric SUV Spied – 3-Row Electric SUV Likely

While there is still speculation around whether this test mule is an electric MPV or SUV, its upright stance, SUV-like proportions and overall packaging indicate that it is more likely to be a 3-row electric SUV rather than a MPV.

Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Electric SUV – What We Know So Far

The first set of spy shots of the Maruti electric SUV shows a parcel tray, hinting at a 5-seat layout. However, the parcel tray appears removable rather than fixed, which means the SUV could still accommodate a third row of seats.

Additionally, the overall proportions of the SUV appear large enough to package 3 rows without requiring a significant increase in body size or wheelbase over what is visible in the spy shots. Maruti Suzuki could initially launch this SUV as a 5-seater before introducing a 7-seat version later, or offer both layouts simultaneously depending on market positioning.

New Maruti Electric SUV Rear Exterior Design

Likely To Be Positioned Above eVitara

The new electric SUV is expected to sit above the eVitara in Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa lineup. Unlike the eVitara’s crossover design, this upcoming SUV appears to prioritise cabin space and practicality with a boxy silhouette. This would allow Maruti Suzuki target buyers looking for a larger family EV capable of competing with larger electric SUVs such as the Tata Harrier EV and Mahindra XEV 9S.

eVitara-Derived Platform & Battery packs Expected

Several details seen in the spy shots, such as aero-optimised alloy wheels, lack of a visible exhaust outlet and a flat floor, point towards a close mechanical relationship with the eVitara.

The upcoming electric SUV is expected to borrow the eVitara’s Heartect-e skateboard platform, battery packs and electric motors. However, given its larger dimensions and potentially higher weight, claimed range figures could be lower than the eVitara’s claimed numbers. For reference, the eVitara base model equipped with the 49kWh battery pack offers a claimed range of 440km while the mid and top models equipped with a 61kWh battery pack offers 543km per charge.

Conventional Door Handles Confirmed

Unlike some newer EVs that use flush-fitting handles, the Maruti SUV in these spy shots uses conventional pull-type door handles. This suggests Maruti Suzuki could be prioritising cost optimisation and practicality rather than aggressively futuristic styling.

AWD Could Be Offered Later In India

Globally, the eVitara is already offered with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup. However, the India-spec model is currently available with front-wheel drive only.

This larger SUV could become one of the first Maruti EVs in India to receive the AWD option, allowing Maruti Suzuki to position it as a more premium and lifestyle-oriented electric SUV and take on the Tata Harrier EV’s AWD variants.

Upcoming Maruti Electric SUV Expected Price

As mentioned earlier, we expect Maruti Suzuki to position this SUV above the eVitara in the Nexa EV portfolio. Considering the eVitara is currently priced between Rs. 16 lakh and Rs. 20 lakh (ex-showroom), we expect Maruti to price the upcoming electric SUV between Rs. 18 lakh to Rs. 22 lakh for the 5-seater variants and charge a premium of around Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 60,000 for the 7-seater version.
