2023 Mahindra Thar 5-Door Exterior Details

Multiple spy shots have revealed the silhouette and key design elements of the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-Door. The Indian SUV will boast increased length and wheelbase over the Thar 3-Door and also offer larger luggage loading capacity and interior space. In terms of design, the Thar 5 door will continue to feature round headlights, Mahindra’s signature grille with vertical slats, and external hinges for the hood release.

Around the side, the Thar 5-Door is likely to offer a new design for the 18-inch alloy wheels, accompanied by squared-off wheel arches and exposed hinges on the doors. At the rear, the Thar 5-Door will continue to offer LED tail lights and a boot-mounted spare wheel.

2023 Mahindra Thar 5-Door Interior Details

While the interior of the Thar 5-Door isn’t visible in any of its spy shots,m, we expect it to offer a similar layout as the Thar 3-door. However, the Thar 5-door could include a few new features that could eventually find their way into the smaller Thar as well. Thanks to the increased length and wheelbase, the Thar 5-Door is likely to offer increased space, especially in the 2nd row. We also expect the Thar 5-Door to incorporate a traditional bench seat over the individual chairs in the 3-Door model. Furthermore, we won’t be surprised if Mahindra offer the option of 3-row seating with the Thar 5-Door.

2023 Mahindra Thar 5-Door Powertrain Details

In terms of powertrain, we expect the new Thar 5-Door to carry the same 2.2L turbo diesel and the 2.0L turbo petrol engine options as the Thar 3-Door. However, both engines could offer more power and torque than the Thar 3-Door to overcome the extra weight. Both engine options are likely to come with manual and automatic transmission options along with 4-wheel-drive. In the Scorpio N, the 2.2L turbo diesel engine comes in 2 states of tune — 130PS and 175PS. We expect Mahindra to also offer the 200PS tune with the 2.0L turbo petrol engine.

2023 Mahindra Thar 5-Door Launch Details

The Thar 5-Door is all set to be revealed in January. We won’t be surprised if Mahindra reveal the prices of the Thar 5-Door on the same day too, as that has happened in the past with the XUV700 and Scorpio N. The deliveries, on the other hand, are likely to commence in Q2 of 2023.
