The Mahindra XUV 7XO has secured a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating for both adult and child occupant protection. The SUV scored 30.76 out of 32 points in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) assessment and 44.97 out of 49 points in the Child Occupant Protection (COP) assessment.

Bharat NCAP tested the 7-seater AX7 diesel-automatic in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. However, the resulting 5-star rating is applicable across the XUV 7XO range.
The XUV 7XO achieved 30.76/32 points in the adult occupant protection assessment.

It scored 14.76/16 points in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and a full 16/16 points in the side movable deformable barrier test.
During the frontal crash assessment, most of the critical body regions of the driver and front passenger received a ‘good’ level of protection. The driver’s chest and tibia, along with the co-driver’s tibia, were assessed as receiving ‘adequate’ protection.
The SUV also underwent a side pole impact assessment, where the result was rated ‘OK’. In the side movable deformable barrier test, the critical areas of the occupants, including the head, chest, abdomen and pelvis, received ‘good’ protection.
The XUV 7XO scored 44.97/49 points in the child occupant protection assessment.

Bharat NCAP assessed child protection using dummies representing 18-month-old and 3-year-old children. Both child restraint systems were installed in a rearward-facing configuration.
The 18-month-old dummy scored 7.97/8 in the frontal crash test, while the 3-year-old dummy achieved 8/8. Both child dummies received the maximum 4/4 points in the side impact assessment. This resulted in a near-perfect 23.97/24 dynamic child protection score.
The XUV 7XO also received the full 12/12 points for CRS installation. It lost 4 points in the vehicle assessment component, bringing its final COP score to 44.97/49.

The XUV 7XO comes equipped with several standard safety features, including:

Higher variants offer additional safety equipment, including:
The XUV 7XO is the updated version of the SUV previously sold as the Mahindra XUV700. The earlier XUV700 was tested by Global NCAP in 2021. It received a 5-star rating for adult occupant protection and a 4-star rating for child occupant protection. The XUV 7XO has now undergone Bharat NCAP testing and has received 5 stars in both adult and child occupant protection.
It is important to note that the 2 assessments were conducted under different test programmes and should not be treated as directly equivalent score comparisons.
