In this March 2023 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all C-segment sedans in India. Where applicable, we’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all C-segment sedans for the last 6 months will give you an idea about the 6-month sales trend.
C-Segment Sedans March 2023 Car Sales - YoY Change
- Only Hyundai Verna reported a growth in YoY comparison in the month of March. Verna reported a YoY growth of 137% and sold
- Honda City was the top selling car in the category till February but was overthrown by Verna in March
- Maruti Suzuki Ciaz became the top losing car in the category with 83.64% YoY decline
- Ciaz was followed by Skoda Slavia with 41% YoY decline in numbers
- Cirt also reported a decline of 16.50% drop in sales number compared to the same month of previous year
- The Volkswagen Vento was discontinued over the past year
- The Virtus is still recent enough to not warrant a YoY comparison

C-Segment Sedan March 2023 Car Sales - MoM Change
- In terms of MoM sales comparison as well, the Verna was the top gainer and top-selling car in the category, with nearly 8,000% MoM growth in the month of March compared to February.
- Pre generation change, Verna sold just 47 units in February and new generation sold 3,755 units in the month of March
- The Verna was followed by the City, with a 37.19% MoM growth in March MoM sales comparison analysis
- All cars in the segment saw a MoM growth except the Maruti Ciaz, which reported a 62.12% MoM growth over February sales numbers
- Mahindra e-Verito had zero dispatches for the fourth consecutive month since December 2022
