In December 2023, Maruti Suzuki offered heavy discounts and other benefits on the Jimny by launching the Jimny Thunder Edition. The Jimny Thunder Edition was Rs. 2 lakh cheaper than the Zeta manual and automatic variants and Rs. 1 lakh more affordable than the Alpha manual and automatic variants. It also offered additional accessories that were not part of the standard kit, including a front skid plate, door visors, outside mirror garnish, and a tan steering cover, among others.

Now, however, the ex-showroom prices of the Jimny’s standard variants have gone back to what they were in November 2024. To make matters worse, Maruti are set to increase prices of all their cars for the new year soon, and even the discounts on the Jimny have shrunk in January 2024.
Take a look at the discounts Maruti Nexa offered in December 2023 in the table below:
Now take a look at the Jimny discounts in January 2024.
We always held the opinion that the Jimny was overpriced for what it was right from launch. And looking at its sales figures, it seems others felt the same way too. Since its launch in June 2023, Maruti sold 3,104 units in August and 2,651 in September. Jimny sales fell even further in October and November to under 2,000 units a month, prompting Maruti Suzuki to offer it with heavy discounts in December 2023. Thanks to these offers, th Jimny managed to achieve retail sales of over 4,500 units. However, dealer dispatches continue to remain low.
