Maruti Suzuki Collaborates With 5 Startups Under MAIL Program

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has selected 5 startup companies for Proof of Concept (PoC) under its Mobility & Automobile Innovation Lab (MAIL) initiative. This will help create value additions in the areas of:

  • logistics
  • IoT based safety and monitoring
  • plug and play solutions

This initiative will also help in speeding up the process of real-time applications in the above-mentioned fields. Maruti Suzuki’s MAIL program is aimed at identifying and bringing together startups that offer innovative and cutting-edge technologies, in order to collaborate for innovative solutions in the automobile space.

The 5 startups selected by the New Delhi based manufacturer are:

  • Enmovil
  • Docketrun
  • Eyedentify
  • Xane
  • SenseGiz

These five startups were selected through an extensive exercise involving a call for applications, thorough screening and pitch sessions as per Maruti Suzuki. The company also stated that the startups presented their solutions at the Demo Day organized in New Delhi.

After the selection into the first cohort, all these 5 startups went through an extensive 3 months long acceleration program. During this period, they were mentored by several experts from both domestic and international startups. Simultaneously, they got guidance from the domain experts at Maruti Suzuki. These startups were also given access to Maruti Suzuki’s testbed and other facilities to understand the ongoing automobile situation and suggest solutions that cater to the current business requirements.

After their presentations on the Demo Day, the company announced SenseGiz as the winner, while Xane and Eyedentify came as runner-ups. Two more startups, namely Enmovil and have been also engaged for the next round.

Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “Indian automobile industry is at a crucial juncture. Several disruptions are taking place in the automobile and mobility space. Since inception Maruti Suzuki has strived to offer products and services that are ahead of regulations and match the needs of the evolving Indian customers while retaining the interests of our stakeholders. We are optimistic that partnering with these startups, we will enter into a new era of mobility and automobile solutions. Our aim is to now work along with these startups and enhance the scalability of the solutions. These intelligent solutions will help enhance customer experience, among others.
