Maruti Suzuki Swift Celebrates 20 Years In India – Over 3 Million Units Sold | V3Cars
Maruti Suzuki is celebrating a milestone for one of its most iconic and best-selling cars: the Maruti Suzuki Swift has completed 20 years in the Indian market. First introduced in May 2005, the Swift redefined the hatchback segment with its sporty design and engaging driving experience.

Over these 2 decades and across 4 generations, the Swift has sold over 3 million (30 lakh) units to date, contributing more than 10% of the company’s total sales and holding a 31% market share in its segment.
Evolution Of Maruti Swift – From First to Fourth Generation
The Swift has continuously evolved to meet changing customer demands and market trends:
- First Generation (2005): Launched as a bold and sporty hatchback, it created a new niche for itself.
- Second Generation (2011): This update brought weight savings and even sharper handling, building on the original’s legacy.
- Third Generation (2018): This generation focused more on modern technology and connectivity features.
- Fourth Generation (2024): The latest iteration, launched in 2024, features a complete exterior redesign and an all-new, 3-cylinder engine.
