Mercedes-Benz has achieved a highly significant production milestone in India by rolling-out the 100,000th Made-in-India vehicle model, which happens to be the all new 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The all important 100,000th Mercedes car was rolled-out from the car maker’s world-class production facility at Chakan. The special event was graced by the Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, Roland Folger and the Executive Director, Operations of the company, Piyush Arora. The production milestone of 1 lakh made in India vehicles is particularly extraordinary for Mercedes-Benz India, as this it makes it the only luxury car maker in India to have attained this milestone.
While speaking on this proud moment of the company, Roland Folger said that this journey, which began 24 years ago, as Mercedes-Benz had pioneered the luxury car market in India has only become more successful, as the company remains to be the most preferred luxury car brand in the country. The huge milestone of rolling-out 100,000 vehicles is also the outcome of the utter dedication of all past and current employees of Mercedes-Benz India, who always remain the company’s best brand ambassadors.
As mentioned by Folger, Mercedes-Benz was the first ever luxury auto brand which entered the Indian market back in 1994. The Mercedes-Benz W 124 E-Class was the first luxury car model in the country which was rolled out of the then manufacturing facility of Mercedes-Benz India situated in Pimpri, Pune.
Mercedes-Benz India had moved its plant from Pimpiri and at present produces it’s made in India offerings from its manufacturing plant in Chakan, near Pune. The Chakan factory required a huge investment of more than Rs. 1000+ crores. This production facility is spread across over 100 acres and forms a part of German luxury car maker’s Global production network.
Here’s a look at the various milestones achieved by Mercedes-Benz India, the most selling luxury car brand in the country:
1. Back in 1995, Mercedes-Benz India rolled out the very first made in India model, which happened to be the E-Class.
In 2008, Mercedes-Benz achieved the production milestone of 20,000 vehiles in India.
In 2010, the company rolled-out the 30,000th car from its manufacturing facility in Chakan.
Back in 2014, the company achieved the milestone of producing 50,000 locally made vehicles in India from the assembly lines of its Chakan plant.
And now, within just 4 years, Mercedes-Benz has rolled out the 100,000th made in India E-Class from the same assembly line in Chakan.
