The new generation Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV has been unveiled. The all new 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE will be showcased at the 2018 Paris Motor Show which will be held next month.

Design and Aerodynamic Improvements
The new 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE has boasts of a new design language, which marks it apart from its predecessor. It has also grown than its predecessor with an increased wheelbase. The new SUV gets a more upright front façade, while its MULTIBEAM headlights are sharp and highly stylized. There’s a new aggressively designed octagonal front grille as well.
According to Mercedes-Benz, the new-gen GLE drag coefficient has been improved from 0.34 to 0.29, which is best in segment. Plus, Mercedes has also endowed a lot of aerodynamic enhancing elements on the exterior of the vehicle. The rear design of the all new GLE gets evolutionary design changes. The patent wraparound type rear quarter glass has been retained and the new sleeker tail lights retain the similar stretched design. The overall design of the new GLE flaunts more aggression owing to the added new aggressive styling elements, especially the all around black body cladding.
Interiors and Technology
The new-gen GLE also boast of a fully refreshed interior. It now offers 69 mm increased space for the second row passengers, owing to the 80 mm increase in the wheelbase. The new 6-way electrically-adjustable second row seats offers great flexibility and comfort for the second-row passengers, while also offering variable legroom for the third row passengers. The seats also come with memory and an array of ‘ENERGIZING’ kinetic functions that offer flexible seating posture by simply adjusting the cushioning and backrest a little, while massage function is also there.
The SUV offers a cargo area of 825 litres, which can be increased to a massive 2,055 litres by folding the rear rows seats. Mercedes has paid great attention to detail by offering a helpful switch to lower the rear end of the new GLE to offer better ease in loading luggage. The all new GLE boasts of the 12.3 inch displays for its new MBUX infotainment system. The new GLE takes the air suspension to a next level with its E-Active Body Control, which can separately control the springs and dampers on each wheel, while also controlling pitching and squat of the vehicle alongside countering body roll as well.
The Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 4MATIC will get powered by an inline-six petrol mill with 48V hybrid system that generates 367 PS of power and 500 Nm of torque. The EQ Boost offers an additional 22 PS and 250 Nm to offer extra sprinting power. The powertrain also includes an ‘Integrated Starter Generator’ to further improve performance and fuel efficiency. There is the 4MATIC system and a sophisticated 9 speed automatic transmission. Other engine choices include a diesel motor that will be offered at a later stage.
There will be an extensive list of driving assistance systems including Active Brake Assist, Blind Spot Assist, Active Distance Assist, Active Stop-and-Go Assist and Active Steering Assist among others. The Driver’s assist systems utilize a multi-purpose camera as well as long-range radars.
The new-gen 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE will hit the US and European markets by early 2019. The model’s India launch is expected sometime later in 2019.
