An official document reveals that the non-electric versions of the highly-anticipated MG eZS SUV just cleared a red tape. It confirms that besides the eZS all-electric SUV, MG will also launch two petrol-powered versions of the SUV. One with a 1.5-litre non-turbo engine and one with a 1.0-litre turbo along with hybrid tech.
Here are the confirmed specs:
MG ZS Petrol Specs
1.0-litre Turbo Hybrid
106PS @ 6000RPM
111PS @ 5200RPM
The ZS will compete with the very popular Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. In addition, the electric version of the SUV (eZS) will launch in December of 2019 to compete with the electric-only Hyundai Kona.
Here is the specs comparison of the MG eZS electric SUV with the Hyundai Kona:
The slight difference between the Hyundai and the MG’s take on differentiating the electric SUV. The Hyundai Kona is only available in full electric form. However, MG will also get the petrol engine options of the ZS to compete with the Hyundai Creta. This could make the eZS look like an overpriced version of the Creta rival. Meanwhile, Hyundai doesn’t have the Kona’s cheaper, non-electric versions in India. We can expect the petrol versions of the ZS to launch soon after the eZS’ launch in December 2019.
