The MG Gloster SUV is set to receive a facelift soon. MG’s D2-segment SUV was spied undergoing tests recently. The test mule, which was covered in camouflage, reveals an all-new front end and other design changes to help it distinguish itself from the older model. Let’s take a look.

MG Gloster Facelift To Get Maxus LDV D90-Inspired Design

Some of you may know the MG Gloster is a rebadged version of the Maxus Lingdi (Territory). The latter is manufactured by MG’s parent company SAIC and is currently on sale in China. The Maxus SUV received a facelift recently with an aggressive front and a reworked tail section. The latest spy shots of the MG Gloster facelift suggest the D2-SUV could borrow styling elements from the updated Maxus SUV.

Like the Maxus Ligndi, the MG Gloster facelift could receive a large polygonal front grille flanked by vertical LED DRLs. The spy shot also showcases the new light cluster mounted on the front bumper. This light cluster not only houses LED high and low beam but also LED fog lamps. Lower down the bumper, expect to find black plastic cladding and a chunky faux skid plate.

The side profile looks similar to the current Gloster while the rear now features connected LED tail lamps. The tailgate of the production-spec SUV could feature ‘Gloster’ lettering lower down. The rear bumper could get a faux skid plate along with twin exhaust outlets for a rugged yet premium look.

While the interior of the MG Gloster facelift wasn’t visible in the latest spy shot, we expect it to be similar to the Maxus Lingdi. So expect a redesigned dashboard layout with a larger touchscreen infotainment system, redesigned centre console and more.

The MG Gloster facelift is expected to retain its current set of 2.0-litre diesel engines. The first option with a single turbo produces 161PS of power and 370Nm of torque while the twin-turbo version generates 216PS and 479Nm. Both engines come with a single transmission option – an 8-speed torque converter.

Expected to launch in the second half of 2024, the MG Gloster will continue to rival the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tiguan and the Hyundai Tucson in the Indian market.
