India’s leading luxury auto maker, Mercedes-Benz is always busy bringing in new models and updating its portfolio in order to bolster its top position in the country’s rapidly growing auto industry. Mercedes-Benz India have been known for its slew of new model launches for few years now, and the company seems to be keeping this aggressive product launch strategy intact to always keep the limelight on itself and grab maximum customer interest. Now, the German luxury auto behemoth is bringing back the CLS in the Indian market. The new generation Mercedes-Benz CLS is currently in its third generation and was introduced to the world in the month of March this year. The elegant and sleek all new Mercedes CLS is now all braced up to hit the car market of India on 16th of November, 2018.
The all new 2018 CLS 4-door coupe occupies the place between the E-Class and the S-Class luxury sedans, and it is expected to be priced at around Rs. 75 lakhs in India. Like all the latest iterations of the Merc models, the latest generation CLS also flaunts the new styling language of the Stuttgart based auto giant and also come braced with an array of new features and cutting-edge technology. The new CLS is based on the E-Class’ platform, but gets many equipments straight from the features list of the flagship S-Class saloon.
The new generation Mercedes-Benz CLS will be coming flaunting a wide front grille design with a single chrome slat and boasting the company’s three-pointed star insignia, the grille design is similar to the one seen on the new-gen A-Class. The all new CLS’ resemblance to the new A-Class continues as it also gets similar looking bold character lines and familiar headlights along with the bold arrow shaped Daytime Running Lights styling.
Under the skin however, the new-gen CLS is similar to the E-Class, as its platform and also the powertrains come straight from the E-Class. The third generation CLS model has also grown in size as compared to its predecessor. In the Indian market, the new 2018 Mercedes CLS is expected to get powered by the 2L inline 4-cylinder diesel motor that runs the recently launched updated C-Class and also the current E-Class. The India-spec CLS might get the ‘CLS 300 d’ badging and could offer around 245 PS of max power along with 500 Nm of peak torque, which if happens would be higher power offerings that the C-Class and the E-Class.
In terms of features, the all new 2018 Mercedes CLS will be coming braced with an array of premium features which are similar to both the E-Class and the S-Class. The coupe’s interior flaunts a massive dual screen layout for the infotainment system and instrument cluster, as is seen on all new-age Mercedes models. The CLS’ elegant and luxurious cabin design offers added class with the usage of wooden trim on the dashboard. The premium appeal is heightened with the dashboard layout and steering wheel design, which look very similar to that of the flagship Mercedes S-Class.
The new generation CLS sedan will be fighting it out with the BMW 6 Series GT and the Audi A7 in India.
