The highly awaited new generation Honda Amaze subcompact sedan has finally launched in the Indian car market priced in the range of Rs. 5.99 lakhs to Rs. 8.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, across India).
The new-gen 2018 Honda Amaze boasts of a completely new design language and is based on a new platform. The subcompact sedan now looks more matured and sophisticated. The new model gets nice features such as LED daytime running lights and 15 inch alloy wheels on the range topping variants, but still lacks features like LED headlights or projector headlamps. On the whole it has a more premium visual appeal and looks reminiscent of the Honda City.
It terms of dimensions the all new Amaze measures 3995 mm long, 1695 mm wide and 1501 mm. It rides on a wheelbase measuring 2470 mm which offers better interior space. It has a ground clearance of 170 mm and offers a boot space of 420 litres.
The second generation Honda Amaze has a much better cabin compared to its predecessor. Features list include a larger 7 inch touchscreen Digipad-2 infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto support, pushbutton engine start/stop, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and a fold-down central armrest at the rear seat. The CVT models come with paddle shifters. As already mentioned, the cabin is more spacious owing to the longer wheelbase.
As before, the new generation Honda Amaze subcompact sedan comes in both petrol and diesel versions powered by a 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5 litre Earth Dreams diesel motor, respectively.
The 1.2L 4-cylinder petrol mill is capable of churning out a max power of 89 bhp and 110 Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine is paired with a 5 speed manual transmission and a 7 speed CVT automatic gearbox. The CVT model boasts of paddle shifters, which is a class first feature.
The popular 1.5L Earth Dreams turbocharged engine on the other hand, has the capability of delivering 99 bhp of top power and 200 Nm of max torque and is coupled with a 5 speed manual transmission. As already mentioned, there is a CVT option on the diesel version as well. However, to ensure reliability the CVT variant, the diesel motors power and torque have been reduced to 79 bhp and 160 Nm.
Honda cars India is offering unique warranty schemes for the new-gen Honda Amaze - 3 years/Unlimited Km standard warranty and extended warranty of 4 and 5 years/unlimited km warranty. The Japanese car major is also offering a special annual maintenance package at Rs. 3,500 for the petrol models and at Rs. 4,900 for the diesel models.
