Mahindra Tease Pick-Up Truck Concept Ahead Of August 15 Debut | V3Cars

Mahindra are gearing up to reveal an all-new pick-up truck concept in Cape Town, South Africa on August 15, 2023. The new pick-up truck is likely to use the Scorpio N’s underpinnings and replace the old Mahindra Pik Up, which is based on the Scorpio Classic. Read on to know more about the new Mahindra pick-up truck concept.

New-Gen Mahindra Pick-Up

Mahindra Pik-Up Concept Teased

Currently, Mahindra offer the Pik Up in South Africa, which is a Scorpio Classic-based pick-up truck with single and dual cab options. Meanwhile, in India, Mahindra pulled the plug on the Scorpio Getaway dual cab pick-up truck before the advent of BS6 emission norms. However, the homegrown carmaker continues to offer the Bolero Camper as their only pick-up offering for private buyers. While the latest teaser does not give us a proper glimpse of the upcoming Pik Up concept, we think it will be a pick-up truck based on the Scorpio N with a well-rounded design compared to the current Scorpio Pik Up, which looks utilitarian.

Although pick-up trucks are not so popular in India, they are quite common in South Africa and Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia and Thailand. By unveiling the Global Pik Up Vision in Cape Town, Mahindra are reiterating the importance of the South African market to the company. We expect the production version of the Scorpio N-based pick-up truck to go on sale in South Africa, followed by Indonesia and other Southeast Asian countries.

The August 15 event will showcase the concept version of the upcoming Scorpio Pik Up. Hence, do not expect all of the styling and features to make it to the production-spec model just yet. That said, we believe the upcoming pick-up from Mahindra will be a lot more polished in terms of fit and finish than the current Pik Up based on the Scorpio Classic.

Apart from the pick-up truck concept, Mahindra are also likely to reveal other concepts and production-spec models at the event. One of them could be the Mahindra Thar 5-door, which was spotted on test recently. It is worth mentioning that Mahindra have no plans to launch the Thar 5 door this year. However, we can expect Mahindra to unveil the model at this one-of-a-kind event.
