As has been reported, the Skoda Superb is getting braced up to get a sporty new variant to entice the Indian buyers better. The Czech automaker has recently teased the new Skoda Superb Sportline variant, and as the name suggests, it is the sportier version of the luxury sedan.
If you think that the Skoda Superb Sportline will flaunt bolder looks, then the answer is it will but in a very subtle way. The stock Superb sedan is already a handsome and bold with a sculpted body, so there’s not really anything to complain anyway. On top of that there are a few subtle styling updates to make things juicier. Like other sporty cars, the Superb Sportline also gets an exterior black treatment to offer a sportier visual appeal. The Sportline variant gets sporty glossy black highlights instead of the flashy chrome garnish. The black theme gets further complemented by black colored wing mirror caps, black lip spoiler, side skirts and a black roof. Going by the picture posted on Skoda India’s official website, it can be said that the sporty variant of the Skoda Superb will also get new larger set of boldly designed alloy wheels, which seem to be 19 inchers.
There are yet no concrete details on the interiors of the India-spec Skoda Sportline. However, it can be expected that Skoda will offer the similar cabin on the India-spec model as that on the international model. It can be expected that the interior beige colour theme will be replaced by a sporty black theme complementing the exterior, while the leather seat upholstery might be replaced by Alcantara. In the international model, Skoda has added to the sporty theme of the car by adding bucket seats, a stylish flat-bottom steering wheel as of course sporty aluminium pedals. The cabin’s gloss black highlights have been replaced by faux carbon-fibre panels to add to the uber cool look.
The new Skoda Superb Sportline is expected to get the same 1.8 litre TSI and the 2.0 litre TDI engines under its hood. In the standard Superb, the petrol engine with the manual transmission offers 180 PS and 320 Nm, while the automatic option offers 180 PS and 250 Nm. The diesel on the other hand, offers 177 PS and 350 Nm. The global Skoda Superb Sportline also comes with a 2.0 TSI mill that generates an awesome 230 PS and 350 Nm. If this petrol mill is offered in India, it will really make things enticing. However, it is not expected in India, and the same engines might be tweaked to offer some additional power for the sportline model.
Other sporty mechanical updates on the Superb Sportline variant include a 15 mm reduction in ride height, while an electronic differential lock has been added. The variant also comes braced with Adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control, which controls individual shock absorbers to enhance handling and ride comfort. Nevertheless, what all the India-spec model will get is not yet conformed.
The new Skoda Superb Sportline is expected to be around a lakh dearer than the standard model which has a price range of Rs. 25.59 lakhs – Rs. 32.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, India).
We sure hope that the Skoda Superb Sportline will offer a punchier performance in India as well, don’t you?
