Compared to the India-spec model, the new Atto 3 is longer, wider and taller, with a longer wheelbase. The bigger dimensions makes it move up from the C2-segment into the D1-segment, which is where electric cars ranging from the Mahindra XEV 9S to the BMW iX LWB reside.
New Design And Feature Updates
The updated Atto 3 retains its overall silhouette but gets several premium design upgrades, including:
- Sleeker LED headlamps with a connected light bar
- New LED taillamps with illuminated logo
- 19-inch alloy wheels
- Flush door handles

Inside, the cabin adopts a cleaner, more minimal layout with key updates such as:
- Larger fixed touchscreen infotainment system
- New digital instrument cluster
- 2-spoke steering wheel

Other features include a panoramic glass roof, 16-speaker audio system, ambient lighting and wireless charging.
New Blade Battery With Faster Charging
The biggest update comes in the form of BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery technology. The second-gen Atto 3 will be offered with 2 battery pack options:
- 57.54kWh
- 68.55kWh
The larger battery pack offers a claimed range of up to 630km (CLTC), while both packs benefit from improved energy density. More importantly, the new Atto 3 supports ultra-fast charging, with BYD claiming a 10-70% charge in just 5 minutes under ideal conditions. Additionally, unlike the current India-spec Atto 3, the new generation model features a rear-wheel-drive layout with either a 275PS or 331PS electric motors.
Expected India Launch
The new-gen Atto 3 has been revealed for the Chinese market, and while BYD have not confirmed its India launch yet, it is likely to arrive here in the future. Currently, the Atto 3 sits as BYD’s most affordable offering in India. With these updates, the new model could move to a higher segment where it competes with the Mahindra XEV 9S, Tata Harrier EV as well as the upcoming Sierra EV.
