Kia is working on the next generation of the Carnival MPV in its home market. If speculations around the new Carnival are to be believed, it is scheduled to launch sometime in 2021.
The new-gen Carnival, which has been spotted covered in a thick camouflage to hide all the key design details, will retain its large MPV silhouette. However, from what can be ascertained from the spy shots, the upcoming 2021 Carnival will get new headlamp design with integrated angular DRLs, revised front grille design with a more edgy, prominent design and newly designed 19 inch diamond cut alloy wheels.
Like the existing Kia Carnival, which shares its platform with the previous-gen SantaFe, the new model might be based on the new-gen SantaFe, which is not on sale in India right now.
Before the new Carnival launches, the existing version will go on sale in India alongside the Seltos. It remains to be seen whether Kia would offer the updated model in India or not. The existing model will be launched as a premium alternative to the Toyota Innova Crysta since it’s a bigger MPV. As a result, it will also be more expensive than the Crysta.
Under the hood, the India-spec Kia Carnival is likely to pack in a 2.2-litre diesel engine that can offer 202PS of max power and 441Nm of peak torque. The engine should be available with an automatic transmission. In terms of the asking price, expect the Kia MPV to be billed over Rs 20 lakh in India.
