Renault Bridger Concept SUV Set For March 10 Reveal – 5 Things To Know | V3Cars

Renault have teased the Bridger concept, which is set to make its global debut on March 10. The concept will preview a B2-segment SUV that will eventually join Renault’s India lineup. While the teasers only reveal a few details, they offer several clues about the upcoming Renault Bridger SUV.

Renault Bridger SUV Teased

Here are 5 things to know about the upcoming Renault Bridger:

1. Bridger To Sit Between Kiger And Duster

Renault have confirmed that the production-spec Bridger will measure under 4 metres in length. Thus, it will compete in the same B2-segment as the Kiger. But why have 2 SUVs competing in the same segment? Several brands have tasted success by offering multiple SUVs in the same segment but with different positioning. For example, Maruti Brezza and Maruti Fronx target different buyers despite similar sizes, while Kia Sonet and Kia Syros also cater to distinct customer preferences. The Bridger is likely to follow a similar strategy, offering a more rugged alternative to the Kiger.

While the Kiger rivals SUVs such as the Maruti Fronx, Toyota Taisor and Nissan Magnite, the Bridger is expected to compete with higher priced rivals such as the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, etc.

2. To Feature A Boxy Design

Based on the teaser images revealed by Renault so far, we know that the upcoming Bridger will offer a boxy styling inspired by SUVs such as the Land Rover Defender. The images also reveal a flat tailgate section with a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. Thus, we could expect Renault to promote the Bridger as a rugged lifestyle SUV compared to its competitors.

3. Likely To Use Kiger’s 1.0L Turbo Petrol

Although Renault have not confirmed the powertrain yet, the Bridger is expected to borrow the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Renault Kiger. This engine produces 100PS of power and is currently offered with manual and CVT transmission options. Using an existing powertrain could help Renault keep development costs in check while ensuring a proven and efficient setup.

4. Will Be Designed And Built In India

Renault have confirmed that the production version of the Bridger will be designed and developed in India. This highlights the company’s strategy of using India as a major development hub for global markets. The production model is also expected to be manufactured at Renault’s Chennai facility, which currently builds models like the Triber, Kiger and the Duster.

5. Expected To Offer Modern Features

While Renault haven’t revealed the interior yet, the production version of the Bridger is expected to offer modern tech and convenience features.

These could include a digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car technology, Advanced driver assistance (ADAS) and other convenience features.
