Skoda recently announced a new small SUV for India and re-introduced the Superb via the CBU route. Now, Skoda India have updated the Slavia and Kushaq range by giving the C-segment sedan and SUV 6 airbags as standard across the range.

For MY2024, all variants of the Slavia and Kushaq get 6 airbags as standard. Earlier, the base Active and Ambition variant of both cars only came with driver and front passenger airbags, while the top variants came with 6 airbags. Surprisingly, despite the significant update, prices of the Slavia and Kushaq remain unchanged, at least for now.
“Safety has always been intrinsic to the Škoda DNA. We were the first brand to score a full 5-stars for adults and children under the Global NCAP tests. Our emphasis on safety embodies our Human Touch approach, and underscores our focus on being a family brand. We always offered frontal airbags in our base variants and six in our higher variants, each as safe as the other. As part of our MY24 updates we now offer six airbags across all variants of the Kushaq and Slavia. We are always listening to our customers and shall continue to provide relevant upgrades and significant product actions within our product portfolio and our variant line-up,” said Peter Janeba, the brand director of Skoda Auto India.
Among C-segment sedans in the country, the Verna, City and Slavia now offer 6 airbags as standard. The Ciaz only gets front dual airbags. The Volkswagen Virtus’ base Comfortline and Highline variants get front dual airbags while higher variants come with 6 airbags.
Among C-segment SUVs, the Citroen C3 Aircross only offers dual airbags in all variants. The Grand Vitara and Urban Cruiser Hyryder offer front dual airbags in their Sigma and Delta, and E and S, variants, respectively, while higher variants get 6 airbags. The Creta and Seltos are the only other C-segment SUVs in the segment apart from the Kushaq to offer 6 airbags as standard.
