Maruti Suzuki are one of the few carmakers in India who are yet to offer advanced driver assistance systems, or ADAS, in their cars. Currently, manufacturers such as Hyundai, MG, Mahindra and Toyota offer ADAS on the top variants of some of their offerings. Now, Maruti Suzuki have begun testing ADAS in India. A Swift Sport was recently caught testing with ADAS features. We believe Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming 7-seater SUV based on the Toyota Innova Hycross will become the first Maruti offering in the country to feature ADAS features.

The Toyota MPV already offers several ADAS-based features called Toyota Safety Sense. The Toyota Innova Hycross includes ADAS-based features such as:
While the Swift Sport is not sold in India, Maruti Suzuki could be using the sporty hatchback as a testing bed for their ADAS features for the Indian market. We do not expect the carmaker to bring the sporty hatchback to our shores anytime soon.

It’s not the first time that Maruti Suzuki have been caught testing ADAS in India. A Grand Vitara was caught testing various ADAS features in Gurugram a few months ago. We expect Maruti Suzuki to later introduce ADAS in the Grand Vitara and future offerings as well.
The Swift Sport, as the name suggests, is a sportier version of the regular Swift that’s on sale in India. It gets a sporty body kit all around, retuned suspension, lowered ride height and twin exhaust tips. The Swift Sport comes with a 1.4L turbo petrol engine along with a 48V mild-hybrid system. It produces 129PS of power at 5500rpm and 235Nm of torque at 2000rpm. This engine comes with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The same engine also does duty on the new S-Cross in European markets.
