Tata Motors has recently launched the much awaited AMT version of the Nexon subcompact SUV. The newly launched automatic version of the Nexon is priced at Rs 9.41 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the petrol and Rs 10.3 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the diesel version and is available only with the top-spec XZA+ trim. However, according to the leaked reports in the market the automaker is preparing to introduce AMT with the lower variants of the subcompact SUV as well. The variants soon to be available with AMT include the XMA and XZA variants.
In terms of features, the mid-level Tata Nexon XMA with automatic gearbox will remain identical to the standard Tata Nexon XMA with features such as follow-me-home headlamps, power tailgate, electrically adjustable ORVMs, remote central locking, ConnectNext infotainment system with steering mounted audio controls, four speakers and wheel covers. However, the variant will surely miss out on few features including the projector headlamps with the LED DRLs, and diamond cut alloy wheels.
Talking about another trim, the Tata Nexon XZA AMT will offer more features as compared to the XMA trim including auto climate control, height adjustable driver's seat, cooled glovebox, larger touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with additional features such as front and rear parking sensors with a reverse camera and fast USB charger among others.
Also, like the top-spec XZA+ AMT trim, both the XMA and XZA variants are likely to get the creep function and Smart Hill Assist features missing out on the front and rear defogger as well as the PEPS smart key with push button start. With the introduction of the automatic transmission version, the Tata Nexon AMT XMA will be the new entry-level automatic on the subcompact SUV. However, the XZA AMT grade will skip on a few features while retaining most of the bells and whistles. In terms of positioning, while the XM trim stands as a mid-level variant in the Tata Nexon line-up, with the XZ positioned just above it.
Under the hood, the Nexon XMA and XZA AMT trims will come powered by the same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol motor and the newly developed 2.5-litre turbo diesel mill. Both engines already come paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox, while the AMT option will be a 6-speed gearbox.
In terms of pricing, however there are no official details but we can expect the price range to sit at a hike of around Rs 50,000 – Rs 70,000 thousand as compared to the standard Tata Nexon XMA and XZA variants. Stay tuned to V3cars.com for launch updates of the Tata Nexom XMA and XZA AMT version.
