    Toyota Receives 10% Sales Growth In December 2018

    Toyota Kirloskar Motor has registered a growth of 10 per cent in December 2018 as compared to domestic sales in December 2017. The Japanese automaker sold a total of 11830 units in the domestic market in December 2018 that includes the export of 653 units of the Etios series this month, clocking a total of 12,483 units. Toyota Kirloskar Motor sold a total of 10,793 units in the domestic market last year in December 2017, where the company exported 812 units of the Etios series. Other than this, the company has also achieved the milestone of highest ever IMV Sales that includes Innova and Fortuner in 2018 in India.

    Commenting on the monthly sales, N. Raja, Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “We are happy to close the year end with a series of positive milestones despite the dampening effect on consumer sentiment owing to hike in fuel prices, higher interest rates, increase in insurance premium. Thanks to our valued customers, we have been able to record the highest ever IMV Sales (Innova + Fortuner) this year. We are grateful to our customers for their continued trust on Toyota products. It is a delight for us that we have met the aspirations of Indian customers with our products that are backed by the strong core of Quality, Durability, Reliability with extreme importance to safety. The buying sentiment had seen a slowdown in the last few months owing to adverse effects of macroeconomic factors, yet the industry hit back with a steady growth in sales.”

    Adding further, he said, “Toyota Kirloskar Motor domestic sales in the period Jan –Dec 2018 has grown by around 9% compared to same period in 2017. We have tried and maintained lean inventory at our dealerships. Our versatile sedan-Toyota Yaris launched this year has been an important contributor to the positive annual sales growth. Additionally, other products like Etios Liva have also sustained the positive sales momentum. We hope customers will continue to appreciate Toyota products and retain their loyalty to the brand.     The company claims that the Innova Crysta MPV has witnessed record growth in sales throughout the year. Apart from this, Toyota’s premium SUV, the Fortuner has also been a considerable contributor to the overall sales. Toyota had launched the Innova Crysta in 2016 in the country and since then, the vehicle has been a favorite in the segment for the customers. Currently, Toyota is busy preparing to bring the Camry Hybrid sedan to the Indian market on 18th January 2019. Few days ago, the Japanese automaker listed the upcoming sedan on their official Indian website with its first teaser revealing some of the significant details about the car. The existing Camry comes with a price tag of Rs 37.23 Lakhs (ex- showroom Gurgaon), while the next- gen model is likely to be priced Rs 50,000 to 60,000 over the current version. Like the outgoing model, the 2019 Toyota Camry Hybrid will continue to compete with the likes of the Honda Accord Hybrid and the Skoda Superb.
