Volkswagen Announce 5 Models For 2026: Full List | V3Cars

At the official reveal of the India-spec Tayron R-Line, Volkswagen India announced 5 models for 2026. In an official communication, Volkswagen said each model would arrive in every quarter of the year. The 5 products will be based on SUV, sedan and hatchback body styles, each catering to a different premium customer audience. One of them is the upcoming Tayron R-Line, which will go on sale in March 2025.

5 Upcoming Volkswagen Cars And SUVs For 2026

In this article, we take a look at the upcoming cars and SUVs Volkswagen are expected to launch in 2026:

1. Tayron R-Line

The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line will signal the brand’s return to the premium 3-row SUV segment in India, filling the void left by the Tiguan Allspace after its discontinuation in 2021. Volkswagen have already commenced local assembly of the Tayron R-Line at their Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad) plant.

Under the bonnet, the SUV is expected to use a 2L turbo-petrol engine producing 204PS and 320Nm, paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. While its design language will closely mirror that of the Tiguan R-Line, the Tayron R-Line will feature a longer body to accommodate the 3rd row.

2. Taigun Facelift

After the Tayron R-Line, we expect Volkswagen to launch the Taigun facelift. Like the Skoda Kushaq facelift that was unveiled recently, we do not expect major sheet metal changes to the Taigun facelift. Instead, the Taigun facelift could receive new headlamps and tail lamps, new alloy wheel designs as well as a refreshed interior with new features such as ADAS, a panoramic sunroof and rear seats with massaging function.

The Taigun facelift is expected to retain its current set of engines, which include a 1L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo petrol. While the latter is expected to retain the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the smaller turbo petrol engine could utilise the same 8-speed torque converter that made its debut with the Kushaq facelift. The 1L turbo petrol engine is also expected to be offered with the current 6-speed manual transmission.

3. Virtus Facelift

The Virtus facelift is expected to arrive soon after the Taigun facelift. For 2026, we expect the Virtus facelift to offer new LED headlamps, a refreshed front fascia as well as new tail lamps and alloy wheel designs. Like the Taigun facelift, we expect the Virtus facelift to get features such as ADAS and a panoramic sunroof.

The updated sedan will likely continue with the same set of engines – a 1L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo petrol – as the current model. However, the 1L turbo petrol engine could get the new 8-speed torque converter automatic instead of the current 6-speed unit.

4. Golf GTI

Following the successful launch of the first lot of Golf GTIs, Volkswagen India are likely to offer the sporty hatchback yet again later this year. Like before, we expect VW India to offer the Golf GTI in limited numbers via the CBU route. The hot hatch is powered by a 2L turbo petrol engine producing 265PS, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that drives the front wheels.

5. ID.4

Last but not least, we expect Volkswagen India to launch their first electric vehicle for the Indian market in the form of the ID.4. The electric hatchback was first showcased in India in 2024. Based on the company’s MEB platform and powered by a 77kWh battery pack, the ID.4  offers a claimed range of 479km per charge. Equipped with a dual-motor configuration, the ID.4 produces 286PS of power and 310Nm of torque. It boasts of a top speed of 180kmph and does the 0-100kmph sprint in 6.3 seconds. We expect this model to launch towards the end of the year.
