Maruti Suzuki Signed MoA To Automate Driving License Test Tracks (Press Release) | V3Cars
Maruti Suzuki India Limited strengthened their road safety initiatives by signing a Memorandum of Agreement with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to automate driving license test tracks, aiming to bring greater transparency, efficiency, and standardisation to the license testing process across key cities in the state.
Here’s what Maruti Suzuki India Limited have to say about the MoA signing with Andhra Pradesh Government:
Under the terms of the MoA, Maruti Suzuki will automate and maintain the driving test tracks for a period of three years from the date of commissioning. The ADTTs will serve driving licence applicants for Light Motor Vehicles (LMV) and Two-Wheelers (TW) across all four locations, while the Ongole facility will additionally cater to Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) applicants.
The automated tracks will be equipped with high-definition cameras, RFID sensors, real-time analytics, and an integrated IT system to enable a technology-driven, standardised, and objective driving licence testing process. Designed to operate with zero human intervention, the ADTTs aim to improve the transparency, efficiency, and comprehensiveness of licence testing. The evaluation process is aligned with the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, with test results generated automatically.
Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said:
“During my meeting with Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Chandrababu Naidu, I was impressed by his love for technology. Aligned with his vision for technology-led solutions, we are honoured to bring 4 Automated Driving Test Tracks (ADTTs) to the state of Andhra Pradesh. ADTTs use advanced technology that ensure a comprehensive, efficient, and transparent process with zero human intervention. This guarantees that only skilled drivers are awarded a driving license, thereby improving overall road safety.”
At the signing of the agreement, Shri Manish Kumar Sinha, IPS, Transport Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh, said:
“I commend Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading passenger vehicle manufacturer, for its significant contribution to road safety through the launch of Automated Driving Test Tracks (ADTTs) across the state. In this project, Maruti Suzuki will extend support by providing technology in the areas of integration with the SARATHI system, training of personnel and routine maintenance for a period of 3 years. The Transport Department, on its part, will provide the required infrastructure at the existing driving tracks, undertake civil works, ensure security and electricity supply and conduct driving tests and issuance of driving licenses using the automated system.”
He added that the automation of driving test tracks is expected to bring greater uniformity and objectivity to the testing process and ensure that driving licences are issued only to candidates with the requisite driving skills, thereby strengthening road safety in the state.
The initiative forms part of Maruti Suzuki’s broader road safety efforts based on the five Es-Engineering, Education, Evaluation, Enforcement, and Emergency Care. A key component of this strategy is the large-scale rollout of ADTTs across the country.
To date, Maruti Suzuki has fully automated 46 ADTTs across seven states, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, and Jammu & Kashmir. In 2025, the company also signed agreements with the Transport Departments of Rajasthan to set up 21 ADTTs and Tamil Nadu to establish 10 ADTTs. With the addition of four ADTTs in Andhra Pradesh, Maruti Suzuki’s nationwide ADTT footprint will expand to 81 automated test tracks.
In addition, Maruti Suzuki has established eight Institutes of Driving and Traffic Research and 23 Road Safety Knowledge Centres in collaboration with various state governments to enhance driver education and skill development. The company also implements Integrated Traffic Safety Management System projects with real-time monitoring and surveillance in select areas to support law enforcement and promote disciplined driving behaviour, alongside First Responder training programmes to strengthen emergency care for road users.
