Hyundai Venue

Updated - August 18, 2021: This article includes some changes in variants as Hyundai reshuffled the lineup a bit and moved some features around. This also includes the latest prices applicable for August 2021. The S (O) is now the base variant with the diesel engine. SX (O) Executive is a new variant added to the list. SX Sport and SX (O) Sport special edition variants are removed.

What Are The Latest August 2021 Prices of Hyundai Venue Diesel?

The Venue diesel starts at Rs. 9.52 lakh and is available in 4 variants - S (O), SX, SX (O) Executive and SX (O). Here are the latest August 2021 prices of the Venue diesel:

HYUNDAI VENUE DIESEL | PRICES

SX

SX (O) Executive

SX (O)

Compared to the turbo petrol variants of the Venue, the diesel models are Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 41,340 more expensive. The smallest difference is between the SX variants where the diesel SX is still a buck under the Rs. 10 lakh limit while the SX turbo petrol has breached it by a small margin. Not only is this difference very small, but this price also means that the Venue diesel SX will cost a lot less on-road in most states because of lower registration costs as it falls in the lower bracket.

Based on the features of the Venue S (O) diesel, it looks like a fairly well-loaded feature list to cover the needs of most buyers. The spread of functional, safety and style features is pretty balanced here and it’s a good option to consider. However, considering the price point, you may still miss the following features in this car:

  • Touchscreen music system
  • Android Auto
  • Apple Carplay
  • Height-adjustable driver seats
  • Adjustable rear headrests

Before you zero in on this variant, consider taking a closer look at the SX variant.

Hyundai Venue S (O) vs SX Diesel - Variant Feature Comparison

The SX diesel variant of the Hyundai Venue costs Rs. 48,000 more than the S (O).

VENUE | PRICE COMPARISON

S (O)

DIFFERENCE

SX

Rs. 9,52,000

Rs. 47,999

Rs. 9,99,999

For this additional cost, you get auto AC, power-folding mirrors, sunroof, touchscreen, larger steel wheels with stylish covers, height-adjustable driver seat, cooled glovebox, cruise control and a few more features.

For the additional asking price over the S (O) diesel, the SX more than justifies the upgrade. Moreover, this variant is only Rs. 7,000 more expensive than the turbo petrol. This difference will vanish when you factor in the higher-on-road costs for the turbo petrol as it costs more than Rs. 10 lakh.

So, you’re practically on even footing right from the start. The only thing you might miss is the auto-clutch transmission, which makes driving in the city traffic almost as easy as an automatic.

After the variant and price shuffling in August 2021, the SX is our top-recommended diesel variant of the Venue diesel.

Hyundai Venue SX vs SX (O) Executive Diesel - Variant Feature Comparison

For the additional Rs. 1.0 lakh or so, you get a nice sprinkling of features but very few of these can be considered a must-have. Moreover, this variant doesn’t justify the price jump over the SX diesel. The SX (O) Executive variant is essentially the top variant minus a few non-essential features. If you are interested in the top variant then you can consider the SX (O) Executive as it offers a slightly better value for money than the top-spec SX (O) trim.

Hyundai Venue SX (O) Executive vs SX (O) Diesel - Variant Feature Comparison

The SX (O) variant of the Venue diesel costs Rs. 11.68 lakh (ex-showroom) and it’s Rs. 63,500 more expensive than the SX (O) Executive. The SX (O) diesel is about Rs. 32,000 more expensive than the SX (O) turbo petrol.

It doesn’t quite justify the price jump from the SX (O) Exe to SX (O) and wides the features-to-value price gap. The SX (O) is worth considering if you frequently drive on the highways or want those extra safety features.

Which Variant Of The Hyundai Venue Diesel Should You Buy?

Let us sum up all the variants of the Hyundai Venue diesel and our variant-wise recommendations. The S (O) is almost as expensive as the SX but misses out on some features that you might expect from a car at this price point.

The SX variant is an easy recommendation. It gets almost all of the features you would expect from a car at this price. Moreover, it costs less than Rs. 10 lakh, which will give you lower on-road costs because of lower registration fees in most states. On top of that, the SX diesel is only Rs. 7,000 more expensive than turbo petrol. The SX variant also gets a smart feature distribution as Hyundai doesn’t offer alloy wheels in this variant while you still get desirable features like sunroof and cruise control. You can buy alloy wheels from the dealership but you can’t install a sunroof or cruise control with similar ease.

Next is the SX (O) Executive, which offers pretty much all of the features of the SX (O) but at a considerably lower cost. Those who want the SX (O) can consider this variant. On the value front, it looks like it’s offering poor value, but that’s because the SX variant set a much higher bar.

If you are considering the SX (O) Executive, then you should instead just jump straight for the SX (O) even though it offers less value than the SX (O) Executive. At least the SX (O) will cover you completely with all of the necessary safety features.

What Are The Engine Specifications of Hyundai Venue Diesel?

The Venue’s diesel packs in a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine that is capable of producing 100PS of maximum power and 240Nm of peak torque. This engine is only available with a 6-speed manual transmission. This same powertrain is also available with the Sonet, but the Sonet promises a better fuel efficiency than the Venue. Moreover, the Sonet also gets the option of an automatic transmission with diesel.

In this segment, the WRV diesel has the lowest and the XUV300 has the best power and torque outputs.

What Are The Dimensions of Hyundai Venue?

The Venue is neither the tallest nor the shortest. It neither has the best ground clearance nor the best boot space but isn’t at the bottom of the list in either of these aspects. So, in terms of dimensions, you’re getting a middle-of-the-road vehicle with the Venue. That’s a pretty good thing as it shows that the Venue balances all the aspects reasonably well.
