Skoda India are currently showcasing the new new-generation Superb at the Auto Expo 2025. Surprisingly, the Superb showcased at the Auto Expo features a diesel engine, which Skoda India discontinued in March 2021. At the event, Skoda officials told V3Cars that the new Superb will go on sale with a petrol engine but also stated that the 2L diesel engine could return if there’s enough demand for it.

Diesel vehicles continue to represent a significant portion of sales for manufacturers like Hyundai, Kia, Tata, and Mahindra, as well as luxury brands such as Mercedes-Benz and BMW. Skoda, meanwhile, discontinued their diesel engines in March 2021 due to the high costs involved in making them comply with India’s latest emission standards. Up until this point, nearly 80 percent of all Skoda cars sold in India were equipped with diesel engines. Since the discontinuation, sales of the Superb and Kodiaq have fallen drastically.
Skoda India say their customers still demand diesel cars. Although the new Superb will launch with a turbo-petrol engine, Skoda India say they are open to the idea of reintroducing their 2L diesel engine if there’s enough demand for it.

Key features of the 2025 Superb include:
In terms of safety features, the 2025 Superb gets up to 10 airbags and a range of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
While the new Superb is available with a range of petrol and diesel engines in global markets, we expect the India-spec model to launch with the 2L turbo petrol engine followed by the reintroduction of the 2L diesel engine.

We expect Skoda India to launch the new Superb sedan after the launch of the new Kodiaq SUV. So expect a launch sometime in the second half of 2025. The 2025 Superb could cost less than the current model, which is currently being sold via the CBU route. So expect a price tag of Rs. 50 lakh (ex-showroom) instead of the Rs. 54 lakh Skoda are charging for the current Superb. When launched, it will rival the recently-launched Toyota Camry sedan.
