MG Motor India showcased a variety of cars at the Auto Expo 2025. Two of them were a pair of new electric sedans, namely the IM5 and IM6. While both of them share the same platform and powertrain, they have slightly distinct body shape and size.

The IM is a new division under the MG Motor. IM stands for Intelligent Mobility and houses MG’s upcoming electric cars with latest technology. Cars under the IM brand also wear a new logo exclusive to the IM sub brand.
The IM5 is an electric sedan which boasts a proportional and curvy 3-box design. It gets frameless doors which adds to the sleek and sporty look of the sedan. The IM5 gets 4-wheel steering which helps reduce the turning radius and also maintain stability at higher speeds.
The IM5 uses a 100kWh battery pack which helps the car have a claimed range of more than 600km. The dual motor setup driving all 4 wheels in the IM5 produces a power output of 767PS and 802Nm of combined torque.

The IM6 looks like a low-slung hatchback with a coupe roofline. The IM6 also gets the new IM logo as well as a 4-wheel steering and 4WD from the two axle-mounted motors. It also gets frameless doors just like the IM5.
The platform and powertrain of the IM6 is identical to the IM5. So, this one too makes 767PS of power and 802Nm of combined peak torque. The range too is similar to that of the IM5.
The following table presents the powertrain specifications of the MG IM5 and IM6 showcase at the Mobility Expo 2025:
The MG IM5 is longer than the IM6. On the other hand, the IM6 has an upper hand in terms of width and height. Since the same platform underpins both the cars, the wheelbase of the IM5 and IM6 is identical.
