Mahindra launched the new 2026 XUV 7XO, which is essentially the XUV700 facelift, on January 7, 2026. The new XUV 7XO’s diesel variants are priced from Rs. 14.96 lakh to Rs. 24.92 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it in direct competition with C2- and D1-segment SUVs such as the Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus and Tata Safari.

In this article, we compare the 2026 XUV 7XO’s diesel engine specs with that of its rivals to see how it stacks up.

2026 Mahindra XUV 7XO Vs Rivals – Diesel Specs Compared

The new XUV 7XO is offered with the same 2.2L turbo diesel engine as its predecessor, the XUV700. In comparison, the Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus offer a slightly smaller 2L diesel engine, while the Hyundai Alcazar is shipped with a 1.5L diesel engine.

The larger diesel engine in the new XUV 7XO makes it the most powerful diesel SUV in this comparison.
The XUV 7XO diesel-manual produces 15PS more power and 70Nm more torque than the Safari and Hector Plus.
The XUV 7XO diesel-automatic offers 15PS more power and 90Nm more torque than the Safari diesel-automatic.
It’s worth noting that the Safari and MG Hector Plus share the same Fiat-sourced 2.0L diesel engine.
The Mahindra SUV offers 69PS more power and 170Nm more torque than the Hyundai Alcazar diesel.
All SUVs offer a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. The diesel variants of the XUV 7XO, Safari and Alcazar also offer the option of a 6-speed torque converter (TC) automatic.
The MG Hector Plus is not available with an automatic transmission.
