The 2026 Maruti Arena Brezza CNG costs Rs. 73,100 - 1.90 lakh more than comparable petrol-manual variants but promises lower running costs. We use current Delhi fuel prices and Maruti’s claimed mileage figures to calculate the recovery distance and identify which Brezza CNG variant makes the strongest overall case.

The Maruti Arena Brezza CNG has a claimed mileage of 26.90kmpkg. The mileage figures of both petrol-manual engines vary depending on the variant.
For these calculations, we used the Delhi fuel prices at the time of publishing: Rs. 102.12 per litre for petrol and Rs. 83.09 per kg for CNG. Check out the V3Cars fuel price tool to check the latest fuel costs in your city.
Based on these figures, the Brezza CNG saves Rs. 1.75 - 1.82 per km compared with the 1.5L normal petrol. The saving increases to Rs. 1.90 - 2.03 per km compared with the 1.0L turbo petrol.
Therefore, every 1000km in the CNG version saves approximately Rs. 1,753 - 2,027 in fuel costs.
The 1.5L normal petrol and CNG powertrains of the new Brezza are available in the same LXi, VXi and ZXi variants. The following table lists the recovery distance for each comparable variant:
The VXi CNG has the shortest recovery distance because its Rs. 73,100 premium is considerably lower than the Rs. 1.0 lakh premium of the other variants. The remaining CNG variants require around 55,000 - 57,000km to recover their additional cost.
At 1500km per month, buyers can recover the CNG premium over the 1.5L petrol in approximately 2.3 - 3.2 years.
This makes the VXi the strongest CNG variant on purchase-price recovery alone. However, this calculation does not account for its features or overall value for money.
The turbo variants cost less than the equivalent 1.5L petrol versions. Consequently, choosing CNG over the turbo requires an additional Rs. 1.44 - 1.90 lakh.
Here is the recovery distance for each comparable variant:
The VXi once again requires the shortest distance to recover the CNG premium at around 75,800km. The LXi requires approximately 1,00,000km.
At 1500km per month, recovering the CNG premium over the turbo takes approximately 4.2 - 5.6 years. Increasing the monthly running to 2000km reduces the period to around 3.2 - 4.2 years.
Therefore, the VXi is the Brezza CNG payback pick. However, buyers must also consider the feature differences and overall value for money before choosing a CNG variant.
The equipment also changes with the powertrain, even when the variant name remains the same. The following table lists the key features offered with the turbo but missing from the equivalent CNG variants:
The equipment gap further strengthens the turbo’s case for lower-mileage buyers. The LXi turbo gains several everyday convenience features, while the ZXi adds useful safety, comfort and infotainment equipment.
Our 2026 Brezza Variants Explained analysis gives the LXi, VXi and ZXi CNG value-for-money scores of 15 percent, 38 percent and 59 percent, respectively. None reaches our minimum recommendation threshold of 60 percent.
Among buyers who have already decided on the Brezza CNG, the ZXi is the strongest overall option because it offers the most complete equipment and comes closest to our recommendation threshold. The VXi remains the better choice for buyers prioritising a lower purchase price and quicker recovery of the CNG premium.
The turbo petrol is the better choice for most Brezza manual buyers, while the CNG suits those with high and predictable monthly running.
None of the Brezza CNG variants earns a recommendation in our Variants Explained analysis. However, buyers committed to CNG have 2 options worth considering. The VXi is the financial pick because it recovers its premium quickest-within around 41,700km over the 1.5L petrol and 75,800km over the turbo.
The ZXi is the strongest overall CNG variant. It offers a more complete feature package and receives the highest value-for-money score among the CNG variants. However, its recovery distance increases to around 55,000km over the 1.5L petrol and 81,400km over the turbo. It also remains just short of our minimum value-for-money threshold.
The LXi CNG is the most difficult to justify. It receives the lowest value-for-money score and requires approximately 1,00,000km to recover its premium over the LXi turbo.
We would primarily consider the CNG for buyers driving around 1500 - 2000km every month and planning to retain the car beyond its break-even distance. Lower-mileage buyers should choose the turbo. Besides costing Rs. 1.44 - 1.90 lakh less, it produces 110PS and 170Nm and offers additional features in every comparable variant.
The CNG’s new underbody cylinder makes its boot considerably more usable than that of the older Brezza CNG. Therefore, buyers who need CNG can choose the VXi for quicker cost recovery or the ZXi/ZXi DT for a more complete ownership experience.
