Kia India have expanded the automatic transmission options of the 2026 Carens Clavis by introducing new automatic variants lower down the range. The 1.5L turbo petrol with a 7-speed DCT and the 1.5L diesel with a 6-speed automatic are now offered in the HTE (O) variant.

Earlier, the automatic transmissions were available only from the HTK Plus variant onwards. With the new variants, Kia have made the Carens Clavis automatic more accessible to buyers looking for the convenience of an automatic gearbox without stepping up to the higher variants.
The newly introduced automatic variants are available with both petrol and diesel powertrains. Here are their prices:
All prices are ex-showroom pan-India.
The HTE (O) turbo petrol DCT is the entry point for the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol automatic range and is priced at Rs. 14.67 lakh. It is followed by the HTE (EX) turbo petrol DCT at Rs. 15.22 lakh. The HTE (O) diesel-automatic costs Rs. 1.45 lakh more than the corresponding manual variant.
Buyers who prefer diesel can opt for the HTE (O) diesel automatic, priced at Rs. 15.82 lakh. It uses the 1.5-litre diesel engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
With these additions, Kia have expanded the Carens Clavis automatic range to lower variants, giving buyers more powertrain and transmission choices across the lineup.
The new HTE (O) and HTE (EX) petrol automatic variants carry a premium of Rs. 2.32 lakh and Rs. 2.36 lakh, respectively, over their manual counterpart. This is because the HTE (O) and HTE (EX) petrol manual variants are powered by the 1.5L normal petrol engine, whereas the new automatic variant gets the more powerful 1.5L turbo petrol engine.
The 1.5L turbo petrol engine produces 160PS and 253Nm and is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The 1.5L diesel engine, meanwhile, produces 116PS and 250Nm and comes with a 6-speed torque converter (TC) automatic transmission.
The introduction of these automatic powertrains in the lower HTE variants gives buyers more flexibility, particularly those who primarily drive in urban conditions and prefer an automatic transmission for added convenience.
Although the new variants are positioned lower in the Carens Clavis range, Kia have equipped them with several features associated with the automatic powertrains.
These include:
The Carens Clavis features a modern exterior design with distinctive lighting elements. Its front end gets L-shaped LED DRLs positioned around the triple LED headlamp setup, giving the MPV a distinctive appearance.
The Carens Clavis continues to be positioned as a premium MPV, offering a combination of passenger space, practicality and features. By introducing automatic options in lower variants, Kia are now targeting buyers who want the convenience of an automatic gearbox without having to opt for the higher-spec trims.
