MG Hector Plus Pros & Cons

Check out pros and cons about the MG Hector Plus that are worth highlighting for a potential buyer. Here are some of the highlights of the benefits of buying the MG Hector Plus. We'll also list out the Hector Plus drawbacks to help you make an informed buying decision.

Hector Plus Advantanges
  • Well-Loaded And Value For Money Smart Variant

The Smart EX and Smart Pro variants of the Hector Plus petrol and diesel, respectively, offer a good set of features. The Smart EX variant offers features like cruise control, 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 18-inch alloy wheels and panoramic sunroof whereas the Smart Pro variant adds features like electronic stability program (ESP), front parking sensors and wireless phone charger.

  • Long List Of Features In Top Variants

The Hector Plus facelift offers a lot of features in its top variants. These features include a 14-inch touchscreen system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Level 2 ADAS with traffic jam assist, 18-inch alloy wheels, front powered and ventilated seats and a powered tailgate.

  • Option Of Captain Seats At No Extra Cost

The Hector Plus offers the option of both 7- and 6-seater configurations. Unlike its competitors, the Hector Plus’ 6-seater variants aren’t priced at a premium over their equivalent 7-seater variants.

Hector Plus Disadvantanges
  • Tall And Narrow Body Lacks SUV Presence

The Hector Plus is tall but relatively narrow in comparison to its height. Hence, it lacks the butch appeal of a traditional SUV, which the Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari offer. Thanks to its added length, it looks more like an MPV with an SUV design rather than an outright SUV.

  • ADAS Only With Petrol Auto

Since only the petrol engine of the Hector Plus offers the automatic transmission, the diesel and petrol-manual variants of the Hector Plus lack the Level-2 ADAS features.

  • No Diesel Automatic Option

The MG Hector Plus is the only SUV in its segment that doesn’t offer a diesel automatic powertrain option. Its 2.0L turbo diesel engine only comes with a 6-speed manual transmission and those looking for a diesel-automatic Hector Plus have no choice but to buy the Hector Plus petrol-auto. Furthermore, the diesel manual powertrain commands a premium of Rs. 2 lakh over the equivalent petrol manual variants, which is on the higher side.

  • Missing Features In Smart EX variant

While the Smart EX variant of the Hector Plus offers several feel-good features like a 10.4-inch touchscreen system, panoramic sunroof, 18-inch alloy wheels and subwoofer, it lacks a few useful features like tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and automatic climate control. Furthermore, the Smart EX variant of the Hector Plus also lacks the option of 2nd-row captain seats.
