MG Motor India’s upcoming 3-row SUV, the Starlight 560, was spied testing recently. This comes shortly after the model’s design patent surfaced online, confirming MG’s plans to introduce a new SUV positioned above the Hector range. The Starlight 560 is expected to strengthen MG’s presence in the highly competitive D-segment SUV space.

The latest spy shots reveal a heavily camouflaged test mule. However, key design cues are still evident. Measuring 4745mm in length, 1850mm in width and 1755mm in height, the Starlight 560 is considerably longer than the Hector, Mahindra XUV 7XO and the Tata Safari. However, the Mahindra and Tata SUVs are slightly wider than the Starlight 560.

Visible elements in the spy shots include the LED headlamps, roof rails, a rear spoiler, and a fairly upright silhouette. The squared-off wheel arches and large alloy wheels (likely 18-inch units) further enhance its rugged SUV appeal.

Although the interior wasn’t visible in the latest spy shots, the India-spec model is expected to follow the global version’s minimalist yet tech-forward cabin layout. It could offer features such as a large touchsscreen infotainment system, a digital driver’s display, connected car tech, and ADAS.
Other feature highlights are expected to include ventilated seats, automatic climate control and a premium audio system.
Globally, the Starlight 560 is offered with petrol, electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains. For India, MG are likely to offer the Starlight 560 hybrid first. This setup combines a 1.5L petrol engine with an electric motor to offer a balance of performance and mileage with a usable electric-only range for city commutes.

Once launched, the Starlight 560 is expected to slot between the MG Hector and the MG Majestor in MG’s India lineup. While the Hector and Hector Plus cater to buyers looking for a value-focused 5- and 6/7-seater SUV, and the Majestor will serve as the flagship, full-size SUV, the Starlight 560 will bridge the gap between the two by offering a premium, spacious and tech-loaded 3-row alternative.
The MG Starlight 560 is expected to launch in India by late 2026 and will serve as an alternative to the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV 7XO and Hyundai Alcazar.
