Scoop: MG Commute EV Taxi/Commercial EV Based On Windsor EV Launching Soon | V3Cars

MG will soon officially enter the commercial business scene with MG Commute — their Windsor-based electric car for cab and fleet operators. The Commute will not carry the Windsor nameplate and will sell with only the Commute badging. Moreover, visually, MG will distinguish it by giving it fewer cosmetic and functional features. This will help in maintaining separate identities for the Windsor and Commute vehicles.

MG Commute Visual Changes

Compared to the base variant of the Windsor (Excite), the MG Commute will get black colour option, which is not available in the Windsor base model. The MG Commute will get silver steel wheels of the same size (17-inch) and miss out on wheel covers. The Excite variant gets black painted steel wheels with wheel covers.

The Commute will also miss out on the rear connected light bar, which is otherwise a standard feature for the Windsor. Most likely, the Commute also won’t get the front connected light bar.

Many exterior features are likely to remain same as the Excite base variant, such as:

  • Body-coloured outside mirrors
  • Turn indicators on outside mirrors
  • LED projector headlamps
  • LED tail lamps
  • Flush door handles
