German luxury automaker Audi is preparing to launch the A8 sedan in the Indian market in 2018. The automaker has listed the 2018 Audi A8 L on its Indian website along with the 2018 Audi Q5. The automaker has also mentioned “coming soon” along with the A8 sedan. The sedan made its debut earlier this year in July in Barcelona and is expected to reach dealerships in India in the first half of 2018.
According to the reports in the market, Audi will introduce the new A8 L sedan with a longer wheelbase by 6 mm to 3,128 mm. The upcoming sedan will measure 5,302 mm in length, 1,945 mm in width and 1,488 mm in height being 37 mm longer, 4 mm narrower and 17 mm larger than its predecessor. Other than being larger than the outgoing model, the new A8 L also offers more headroom, shoulder room and legroom.
Under the hood, the Audi A8 L from Audi 2018 line up is currently available with two engine variants: 55 TFSI and 50 TDI and Audi is likely to offer both the engines with the sedan initially to the Indian market. While the A8 L 55 TFSI is powered by a 3.0-liter TFSI turbo V6 petrol engine with 340 hp and 500 Nm of torque, the A8 L 50 TDI uses a 3.0-liter TDI turbo diesel engine V6, which develops 286 hp and 600 Nm of torque. Both the engines will get 8-speed tiptronic automatic transmission and the Quattro-Permanent AWD system as standard.
