    2018 Audi A8 Listed On Audi India website, To Be Launched Soon

    German luxury automaker Audi is preparing to launch the A8 sedan in the Indian market in 2018. The automaker has listed the 2018 Audi A8 L on its Indian website along with the 2018 Audi Q5. The automaker has also mentioned “coming soon” along with the A8 sedan. The sedan made its debut earlier this year in July in Barcelona and is expected to reach dealerships in India in the first half of 2018.

    According to the reports in the market, Audi will introduce the new A8 L sedan with a longer wheelbase by 6 mm to 3,128 mm. The upcoming sedan will measure 5,302 mm in length, 1,945 mm in width and 1,488 mm in height being 37 mm longer, 4 mm narrower and 17 mm larger than its predecessor. Other than being larger than the outgoing model, the new A8 L also offers more headroom, shoulder room and legroom.

    Under the hood, the Audi A8 L from Audi 2018 line up is currently available with two engine variants: 55 TFSI and 50 TDI and Audi is likely to offer both the engines with the sedan initially to the Indian market. While the A8 L 55 TFSI is powered by a 3.0-liter TFSI turbo V6 petrol engine with 340 hp and 500 Nm of torque, the A8 L 50 TDI uses a 3.0-liter TDI turbo diesel engine V6, which develops 286 hp and 600 Nm of torque. Both the engines will get 8-speed tiptronic automatic transmission and the Quattro-Permanent AWD system as standard.

    This is the first time that Audi has equipped the Audi A8 L’s engines with mild-hybrid technology as standard. The 48-volt system with belt alternator starters (BAS) and a 10 Ah lithium-ion battery, functions as the main vehicle electrical system for the first time in the flagship sedan. This basically allows a high recuperation power of up to 12 kW, as well as start-stop operation from 22 kmph. Because of this mid-hybrid system the engine of the A8 L the speed range of 55-160 km/h, if the driver releases the accelerator, the vehicle can travel as a zero-emissions vehicle for up to 40 seconds.

    Apart from these, this upcoming 2018 Audi A8 L is the world's first production car to offer Level 3 autonomous driving- Audi AI Staupilot, Audi AI (remote) parking pilot and the Audi AI remote control pilot. While the Audi AI traffic jam pilot lets the driver to drive the car autonomously up to 60 km / h in slow traffic on the motorway, the other two Audi AI systems let the car drive independently and without a driver into a parallel or rectangular parking space or into a garage.

    Talking about the noticeable features in the upcoming sedan, the Audi A8 L will offer HD Matrix LED headlights with Audi laser light 21-inch wheels, homogeneous OLED rear lights, panoramic glass sunroof, 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit , 4-zone climate control, vented front and rear seats with massage function, dual central display with 10.1-inch infotainment system screen and a 8.6-inch screen for temperature and comfort controls, 5.7-inch OLED tablet -back seat remote control and a 1,920 watt, 23-speaker Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System and much more.

    The manufacturing of the 2018 Audi A8 L is being done at the Audi’s plant at Neckarsulm in Germany, hence it is going to make its way to the Indian market via CBU route. The launch of the Audi A8 L will follow the launch of the Audi Q5 in 2018. In terms of pricing we can expect it to be priced somewhere in between Rs 1.2 Crore- Rs 1.3 Crore and will take against the likes of the BMW 7 Series and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
